INRTU Students From the PJSC Gazprom Team Took First Place in the International Construction Championship
INRTU students as part of Gazprom's team took first place in the III International Construction Championship. The tournament was held on October 17-20 at the Expoforum Convention and Exhibition Center (St. Petersburg).
The event was initiated by the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation and Rosatom State Corporation. The professional tournament was organized jointly by PJSC Gazprom, ANO Russia - Land of Opportunities and the government of St. Petersburg.
In the 2023 championship, specialists fr om 40 countries displayed their skills in 25 individual and team nominations. The competitors had to prove themselves in construction, design and management work. Students and schoolchildren competed in four nominations on various tournament tasks. Overall, more than 50 million rubles made up the prize fund.
10 students from INRTU and the Irkutsk branch of the Moscow State Technical University of Civil Aviation represented the Irkutsk Region at the International Championship. The students' participation in the Gazprom-launched Kovykta labor project helped them get off to the prestigious tournament. INRTU students - Georgy Bairov, Stanislav Vasyukov, Daniil Chizhov, Nikita Sherstov and Alexander Romanchugov, head of the Irkutsk Region's construction teams, were among the best.
In St. Petersburg, the Irkutsk team took first place in the Best-Structures Area nomination. As part of the stage, they got to build an engineering structure of a water supply entry point. The team received the prize money of 150 thousand rubles.
"The St. Petersburg tournament became the venue wh ere I first proved myself as a construction manager. I had to study the drawings, technical specifications, find mistakes if necessary, and help coordinate the team's work. I had to undertake monitoring compliance with security requirements and deliver the project to the experts," said Alexander Romanchugov.
Georgy Bairov, who developed the process, and welder Nikita Sherstov took over in the Installation of Technological Pipelines category. The INRTU students will receive 150 thousand rubles each.
Alexander Romanchugov and fitter Stanislav Vasyukov came in third in the General Construction Work internal category. The efficiently completed task awarded each student 50 thousand rubles.
Rector Mikhail Kornyakov congratulated the students on their victory in the championship and handed out medals to them.
