INRTU students are taking part in the festival "ArchBukhta.Oblivion" dedicated to the transformation of the Baikalsk Pulp and Paper Mill's industrial site
"ArchBukhta" is a festival for the creation of small architectural forms and art objects, which is held annually in the vicinity of Lake Baikal and brings together the creative community from all over the country.
The location of ArchBukhta. Oblivion" is Baikalsk Pulp and Paper Mill, which was closed in 2013. The event started on March 9. And students and graduates of INRTU traditionally applied to take part in it.
Festival on creation of small architectural forms and art objects is annually held on the shore of Lake Baikal and attracts creative community from all over the country. This year 20 teams consisting of 130 students and specialists from architectural and design studios of Irkutsk, Novosibirsk, Samara and Moscow showed interest in the event.
The "ArchBukhta.Oblivion" festival was organised by the "Young Architects Club", headed by Roman Malinovich, a graduate of INRTU.
According to Roman Malinovich, for three days the teams will create art objects out of wood.
"Initially, the festival covered only students of Irkutsk Polytechnic University. About 50 people took part in the first event. Over time, the geography has expanded. The theme of this year's festival is Oblivion. The teams will have to rethink historical and cultural code of Baikalsk town. On the one hand, it is a place of attraction with great resource potential, on the other hand, there is a feeling of complete loneliness, a "forgotten city" against a beautiful landscape. Participants must write their "composition" in the language of three-dimensional compositional techniques on the theme of life, "- commented Roman Malinovich.
Results of the "ArchBuhta" will be summed up on 12 March. It is planned that some of the objects will be remained in Baikalsk.
