INRTU Student Sports Club Invites Everyone to Join Sections
On September 12, a meeting of the INRTU Student Sports Club took place in the university’s assembly hall. Freshmen learned that the university offers sections for 23 sports, with over 86% of students engaged in physical education and sports activities.
The welcoming speech was delivered by Alexander Demidov, Director of the INRTU Sports Training Center:

“Today we will talk about sports, physical education, and the national teams of the INRTU Sports Club, which include the best of the best. Our students confidently compete at city and national levels and are long-term winners of interuniversity sports competitions. Those who perform well during tryout trainings and university competitions will have a chance to join our university teams. Selection is limited, but everything is in your hands”.
The Student Sports Club has been operating since 2013. During this time, it has organized over 200 large-scale events both at the university and throughout the Irkutsk region. The SSC collaborates with dozens of sponsors and partners, including the ASSC Russia, Rosmolodyozh, the Student Basketball Association, Irkutsk Oil Company, Fox Pizza, and others.
The INRTU Sports Club welcomes not only freshmen but also everyone interested in learning more about the university’s sports activities. Everyone can find an activity to their liking. Sections open for enrollment include arm wrestling, badminton, table tennis, boxing, weight-lifting, swimming, powerlifting, darts, athletic, ski race, orienteering, chess, and crossfit. Recruitment is also ongoing for basketball, volleyball, football, mini football, cheerleading, and hockey with a ball teams.
The meeting was attended by Ruslan Semenov, a student of the School of Aircraft Construction, Mechanical Engineering and Transport. The freshman was impressed by the scale of sports at the university:

“I played amateur football before, so it would be great to join the INRTU team. I also liked the cheerleading club – these are very energetic guys who cheer on the athletes and share their positivity”.
The cheerleading club is looking for particularly creative and proactive students. The club’s leader, Darya Trufonova, emphasized the importance of this area for athletes:
“It is important for everyone to know that they are believed in and supported. We drum rhythms to set the pace for games, energize and chant cheers to boost our athletes’ team spirit. The INRTU cheerleading club is among the top 5 in Russia and has twice won the regional cheerleading battle”.The INRTU Student Sports Club offers unique opportunities for self-realization in sports and active social life. Here, every student can not only keep fit but also find a team of like-minded team and become part of the university’s big sports family.
Annually first-year students are selected at the beginning of the academic year to form the university’s teams and enroll in sports sections. For this purpose, the Sports Club holds the Freshman Cup competitions in various sports.
