INRTU Student Ahmad Garba Yakubu from Nigeria is a Bronze Medalist at the World Karate Championship
INRTU student Ahmad Garba Yakubu fr om Nigeria has delivered a successful performance at the IASKF World Championship and the World All-Style Karate Championship. The INRTU student, a member of the Nigerian national team, won a bronze medal in the optional kata-bunkai program.
The competitions were held in Cheboksary as part of the World Games of National Martial Arts. The championships brought together over four thousand of the strongest athletes from various martial arts styles, representing 27 countries. The level of their skill was exceptionally high, with each match demanding maximum concentration, speed, and endurance.
Ahmad Garba Yakubu studies at the INRTU School of Aircraft Construction, Mechanical Engineering and Transport, specializing in "Aircraft and Helicopter Engineering". He mentioned that he represented his country on the global stage alongside another INRTU student from Nigeria, Ibrahim Mukhtar Ladan.

“We consider it a great honor to compete under the Nigerian flag and to demonstrate that students of a Russian university – INRTU – distinguish themselves not only in academics but also in sports.
Last year, the competition took place in Orel, wh ere we managed to secure second place, and this year we have won the bronze. This result remains a significant achievement and a powerful motivation for further training and development. The championship was held in a friendly atmosphere. Sport unites people from all over the world. The experience we gained inspires us to set new goals.

Representatives of the Nigerian delegation received a special gift from the President of the International All-Style Karate Federation.
It is worth noting that the Irkutsk athletes have once again confirmed their status as some of the strongest combined event competitors in the world of all-style karate, securing three final placements out of four. This result served as a vivid confirmation of the high level of preparation and perseverance of the athletes from the Irkutsk region. These competitions have once again highlighted the importance of sport, showing how it fosters the development of friendly ties, the exchange of experience, and inspires new victories and achievements.
