INRTU is the Irkutsk Region's Best Institution of Higher Professional Education in Physical Culture and Sports in 2023

The Baikal Business Centre hosted an award ceremony for the best achievements in the field of physical culture and sports in 2023. The event is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the physical culture and sports organization in the Irkutsk Region and Russia.

Georgy Kuzmin, Deputy Chairman of the Irkutsk Region Government, welcomed the participants of the ceremony:

"In 2023, the Irkutsk Region was represented at all-Russian and international competitions. Our athletes' victories really help to promote the region".

Georgy Kuzmin and Pavel Bogatyrev, Minister of Sports, presented departmental awards of the Russian Ministry of Sports to employees of physical culture and sports and the nominations winners. For its significant contribution to the development of physical culture and sports, INRTU won in the Best Institution of Higher Professional Education in the Irkutsk Region nomination. An honorary certificate and a commemorative book "One Hundred Glorious Years. To the Anniversary of Physical Culture and Sports Achievements of the Irkutsk Region" were handed over to the INRTU representative Nikolay Belikov - Head of the Sports Facilities Department.

In 2023, INRTU emerged victorious in the Student Spartakiade held among higher education institutions in the Irkutsk Region. Additionally, they achieved the second place at the Winter Student Festival of the "Ready for Labour and Defence" (GTO) physical culture and sports complex. INRTU also hosted the finals of the Student Orienteering League and the II Championship of the Student Hockey League. The INRTU student sports elite comprises 10 sports masters and 46 candidates. During the previous season, INRTU sportsmen excelled in multiple competitions. These included the Russian Swimming Championship, the All-Russian Beach Volleyball Competition for students, and the final events of the Student Orienteering League in cross-sprint and cross-long disciplines.

"Today, physical education and sport have become fashionable - this is what we have always strived for. The increased number of people regularly engaged in physical culture and sport proves it. The domestic competitions have considerably grown in number, too. Compared to last year, athletes from the Irkutsk Region have won more medals at major competitions this year. I wish the athletes further success in sports," - said Pavel Bogatyrev, the Minister of Sports of the Irkutsk Region.
