INRTU International Students Win Prizes at the Regional Stage of the “StudRussia” Competition

INRTU students from Nigeria, Garba Ahmad Yakubu and Ibrahim Mukhtar Ladan, became prize-winners of the Siberian stage of the All-Russian competition for International Students “StudRussia” in Krasnoyarsk. INRTU students' success was congratulated by Vice-Rector for Research Aleksandr Kononov and Director of the Center for International Services Alina Shubina.

“StudRussia” competition is designed to support international students in Russia with special achievements in education, science, youth policy, leadership, social activism, volunteering, creativity, and sports. The competition features six nominations: “Science Trailblazer”, “Generation Leader”, “Summit Seekers”, “Global Compassion”, “Creative Spirit”, and “Russian Language and Culture”.

Garba Ahmad Yakubu received the Grand Prix award “The Best International Student”, given for outstanding results in several nominations at once. He represents the School of Aircraft Construction, Mechanical Engineering and Transport and is also the President of the INRTU International Student Council. INRTU student notes that the most memorable competition task was the presentation dedicated to Russia and his adaptation here.

“I decided to apply for three nominations at once: ‘Russian Language and Culture’, ‘Generation Leader’, and the sports nomination ‘Summit Seekers’.

To be honest, I did not expect to win because the competition was very high. The Grand Prix is the highest award given to students who have scored the most points,”

said Garba Ahmad Yakubu.

The honorary second place in the “Generation Leader” category was awarded to a student of the School of Subsurface Resource Management and representative of Nigerian students in the council of foreign students, Ibrahim Mukhtar Ladan. He shared his impressions:

“There were really many strong participants.

I was very happy when I heard my name during the award ceremony”.

The final stage of the competition will take place in December in Moscow. Detailed information about the “StudRussia” project is available here
