INRTU Employee Xia Shuang Awarded Governor's Letter of Gratitude for Contribution to Russian and Chinese Education
Xia Shuang, INRTU Assistant to the Rector for Chinese Affairs, was awarded a Letter of Gratitude from the Governor of the Irkutsk Region for her contribution to the development of Russian and Chinese education. The award ceremony, held in honor of Higher School Teacher’s Day, took place on November 28 in the INRTU conference hall.
For the past eight years, Xia Shuang has played a key role in strengthening international cooperation between Irkutsk National Research Technical University and universities in China.
During her tenure, the number of Chinese students at the university has grown more than fivefold, and the network of partner universities has expanded significantly. Under her guidance, five joint educational programs have been launched, with more than 700 students currently studying in China. In addition, joint research centers, international academic seminars, and internships for both faculty and students have been created and successfully implemented.
INRTU Rector Mikhail Korniakov highlighted her achievements:
“Dear Xia Shuang, you have made a significant contribution to the development of our Sino-Russian programs, which once again confirms your high professionalism and exceptional competence. You are not only an inspiring initiator of large-scale educational projects and events but also a true bridge of friendship and cooperation between INRTU and leading research and educational centers of China”.
Xia Shuang stressed that these achievements were made possible through the collective efforts of the entire university team, including INRTU International Affairs Department, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, and the teaching staff. She noted that this award marks the beginning of new initiatives and further strengthening of cooperation.
“First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Governor of the Irkutsk Region, Igor Ivanovich Kobzev. This award is not only recognition of my personal work but also meaningful support for our university in developing Russian-Chinese educational cooperation. Over the eight years of working at INRTU, I have never walked this path alone – all achievements became possible thanks to the comprehensive support of the university. This award truly belongs to all of us who work together to advance Russian-Chinese education and scientific cooperation,”
emphasized Xia Shuang in her speech.
