INRTU employee Alla Lytkina set a world record at the VII World Armlifting Championship

The competition attracted athletes fr om 52 countries. At the annual championships they competed in powerlifting, armlifting and streetlifting.

Alla Lytkina has been training in armlifting for about two years in the «Champion» club under the guidance of famous coach Vladimir Kushnir.

According to the polytechnic staff member, armlifters perform exercises on grip strength, wh ere they actively work the hands and forearm muscles. She made three successful attempts during the tournament, lifting 90, 95 and 100 kilograms.

«My main rival couldn’t manage the third attempt, so I took gold in the 60kg weight category. This was a joyful event, because earlier at the European Championships I had failed.

Then coach Vladimir Kushnir suggested to lift a maximum weight of 101 kg. I only managed to lift the barbell to my knees. But I wasn’t discouraged, thinking that there were still records to come. The next group of athletes had already started to compete when I was informed that the barbell was not assembled correctly (it weighed 111 kg). The referees detected the mistake, gave me another chance. I went out on the platform and set a world record», Alla Lytkina said about the tournament.

The polytechnic staff member is a two-time world and European champion, an international class master of sport in armlifting, and a master of sport in biceps lifting.

Alla Lytkina has trained hard to achieve such results. The support of her relatives, coach, colleagues and polytechnic students helped her not to lose her motivation during her sporting journey.

«I got into armlifting by chance. Two years ago I started going to the gym to keep fit. The trainer suggested lifting the Apollo Axel training bar. For a beginner I achieved excellent results, I heaved 70 kilograms», says the athlete.

Alla Lytkina plans to repeat her success at the next World Championships, breaking her own record, as well as to perform the «Elite» standard.
