INRTU develops cooperation with Mongolia in bandy, chess and basketball
On September 1, INRTU was visited by a Mongolian delegation led by Dorzhsurengyin Jargalsaikhan, the Chairman of the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports. During the meeting, the parties discussed the organization of a bandy, chess and basketball joint championship.

"In the spring, we held a bandy competition involving the INRTU team, the student team from Buryatia and a youth team from Mongolia. The tournament was organized in two stages on the ice of Lake Baikal and Khubsugul. The dates of the international games were not chosen by chance - the "Cup of Two Lakes" was timed to coincide with the 42nd anniversary of the Soviet-Mongolian crew's flight into space. It is planned to make the bandy competition an annual tradition. That is why we are waiting for you at the Cup of Two Lakes in 2024," Mikhail Korniakov told the guests.
Dorjsurengiin Jargalsaikhan, Chairman of the Mongolian State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports, accepted the invitation. Dorj Bayarmaa, the team doctor, added that their students had successfully performed at the International University International Sports Festival 2023 in Ekaterinburg:
"Mongolia was represented by 54 athletes from five universities, 10 of whom won medals. The boys excelled in freestyle wrestling and sambo. Mongolian athletes also took part in table tennis, gymnastics, swimming and 3x3 basketball tournaments".
Sergei Anosov, INRTU Vice-Rector for Campus and Corporate Management, in turn, invited Mongolian athletes to the basketball and chess competitions.
Stepan Bykov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, emphasized that INRTU is developing both sports and educational projects with Mongolia. He drew his colleagues' attention to the courses for Russian teachers. For the second year in a row, INRTU has been successfully running professional development programs for teachers who want to study the theory and methodology of teaching Russian. Teachers from different provinces have shown interest in the training.
At the end of the meeting, the University administration and the Mongolian delegation exchanged souvenirs. An excursion to the INRTU stadium and the Baikal Ice Palace was organized for the guests.
