INRTU Celebrated 95th Anniversary

A ceremonial meeting marking the 95th anniversary of INRTU was held on September 5. Over a thousand guests and alumni came to INRTU to congratulate the university, thank the teachers, and present gifts.

Throughout its existence, INRTU has trained 250,000 highly qualified specialists who strengthen the economic power of the region and the country. Today, the university is a hub for corporate educational programs, a startup accelerator, and a major scientific-educational corporation whose interests extend far beyond the Baikal region.

INRTU received congratulations fr om the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, federal and regional authorities, partner enterprises, and representatives of the consulates of Mongolia, China, and South Korea.

According to Rector Mikhail Korniakov, over the past five years, the volume of R&D work has grown to 730 million rubles, and the average Unified State Exam (USE) score of applicants has increased to 70.65.

“Preserving the glorious traditions, we continue to write the history of Irkutsk Polytechnic University, wh ere every page is full of new knowledge, discoveries, and inspiration for future generations. Our graduates have always been and remain part of major projects and great events, and today we are together designing the future that new generations of engineers will build with their own hands.

We are launching technological projects in aircraft construction, geological exploration, and chemical technology, and strengthening cooperation with leading industrial companies,” said Mikhail Korniakov, welcoming the guests.

The key event of the ceremonial meeting was the awarding of staff, conducted by Russian Federation Senator from Irkutsk Region Sergei Brilka, First Deputy Governor of Irkutsk Region Roman Kolesov, Regional Legislative Assembly Deputy Kuzma Aldarov, Irkutsk Mayor Ruslan Bolotov, representatives of partner companies, and foreign guests.

The development of INRTU has always proceeded in close collaboration with industrial enterprises of the region and the country. They have been and remain the customers for personnel, partners in scientific research, and key participants in educational projects.

Vasily Prutkovsky, Managing Director of PJSC Yakovlev, which is a leading producer of civil airliners in Russia, came to congratulate INRTU and present letters of gratitude to the staff of the School of Aircraft Engineering and Transport. He emphasized that INRTU and PJSC Yakovlev are bound by long-term cooperation, common goals, and projects to ensure the country's technological sovereignty in aircraft manufacturing.

INRTU is a target university for the company Polyus, jointly implementing educational projects and programs for forming a future personnel reserve. For many years, the university has been a reliable partner in training highly qualified personnel and performing research work in the interests of PJSC Polyus.

Igor Tsukurov, a graduate of INRTU and Managing Director of the companies Polyus Verninskoye and Polyus Sukhoi Log, noted that 95 years ago the university was opened on the initiative of gold industrialists:

The university has come a long way in its formation and development. Today, INRTU holds a worthy place among the leading technical universities of the country. Here, highly qualified specialists are trained, fundamental and applied scientific research is conducted, innovations are developed, and the boldest dreams are realized. Your contribution to the development of the region and the country is immense. Industry values the progressive personnel trained by the university. Together we have managed to implement many projects, and there will be even more ahead, because INRTU has strong traditions and a strong team,” said Igor Tsukurov.

Cooperation between INRTU and Irkutsk Oil Company covers key areas related to personnel training, scientific research, and technological development. Annually, over a thousand company employees undergo retraining at the INRTU Oil and Gas Training Center.

The fundamental approach to education at INRTU was noted by Ruslan Salikhov, Managing Director for Production – Chief Engineer and member of the Management Board.

“INRTU has journeyed from a mining institute to a national research university, being a key regional university for training engineering personnel and gaining international recognition. Hundreds of graduates have contributed to the development and exploitation of Eastern Siberia's mineral resources. Special thanks to the teaching staff.

Today, INRTU is a key university for Irkutsk Oil Company, and we wish you new achievements," congratulated Ruslan Salikhov and presented a certificate for the development of the Irkutsk Oil Company training center.

On behalf of En+ Group Chief Executive Officer Vladimir Kolmogorov, INRTU was greeted by, Director of Organizational Development and Human Resources Management of JSC En+ Generation:

 “Over three thousand employees of our company are graduates of INRTU. INRTU is a successful platform for implementing educational, research, and corporate programs. On behalf of En+ Group, I wish the university to preserve its glorious traditions and move forward boldly, inspiring and educating many generations of professionals”.

INRTU is the most multinational university in Siberia. Over 1,500 foreigners from 54 countries are pursuing higher education at the university. INRTU is included in international rankings and worthily represents Russia in the global educational space.

A representative delegation from Mongolia came to the university's anniversary. Khookhoryn Badamsuren, a graduate of INRTU, Hero of Labor of Mongolia, former head of the company Mongolrostsvetmet and the Erdenet Mining and Processing Plant, shares a special relationship with INRTU. At the anniversary event, he presented the badges of Honorary Miner of Mongolia to Vice-Rector for International Affairs Stepan Bykov, Head of the Center of Mine Surveying and Geodesic Innovations Evgeniy Belyaev, and Associate Professor of the Department of Mine Surveying and Geodesy Boris Olzoev. On the initiative of the Erdenet Mining Corporation SOE, a space dedicated to Mongolian graduates and their contribution to the company's development will be created at the School of Subsurface Resource Management.

The anniversary celebration was adorned with performances by creative groups from the Center for Cultural and Educational Work. The holiday concluded with a song about the beloved Polytechnic University.
