INRTU and GEOMIX Signed a Cooperation Agreement

INRTU and GEOMIX, the developer of the leading Russian mining and geological information system, signed a cooperation agreement. It is planned that INRTU will become the company's backbone university in Siberia and the Far East. The cooperation document was signed on June 19 by INRTU Rector Mikhail Korniakov and GEOMIX General Director Gimiran Utenov.

At the meeting Mikhail Kornyakov noted that the university participates in the federal program "Priority 2030", within the framework of which the employees of the Center for Surveying and Geodesy Innovations develop advanced technologies and devices. INRTU is interested in building partnerships with GEOMIX to train highly qualified staff for the mining industry using digital technologies.

According to information fr om GEOMIX CEO Gimiran Utenov, the mining and geological information system (MGIS) is a modern digital platform solution for comprehensive improvement of mining efficiency, design and planning of mining processes, drilling and blasting operations.

MGIS is included in the Russian software register and is used by the largest mining enterprises, such as EuroChem MCC, Rusal, Metalloinvest Management Company, NLMK, Polyus, Evraz, SUEK and others.

Today, GEOMIX is implementing MGIS at the Rusgeology enterprises within the framework of the Industrial Competence Centers established on behalf of the Russian Government. The project is implemented in order to replace foreign analogs with a Russian industry-specific digital solution.

The Company is developing cooperation with MISIS, St. Petersburg Mining University, and BSU. The GEOMIX Competence Center was opened at the Technical University of the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company.

The first GEOMIX training licenses were installed at the Department of Mine Surveying and Geodesy of INRTU in 2022.

"During the meeting we discussed with the surveyors the prospects for further cooperation. We have a long way to go, starting with training teachers and introducing MGIS to the educational process. The company is also interested in joint research and development projects. Today INRTU engineers presented their developments to us, and we will decide how they can be integrated with our product," commented Gimiran Utenov.

Evgeny Belyaev, the head of the Center of Mine Surveying and Geodesic Innovations of INRTU, emphasized that the platform MGIS GEOMIX allows to integrate it not only into the educational process, but also into production activities

"GEOMIX platform can serve as a base, and from our side we will provide competencies and technical components. In addition, employees of mining companies – our partners – have the prospect to get additional education by mastering the only Russian software product covering all stages of geological and surveying works".

Alexander Zagibalov, Head of the Department of Mine Surveying and Geodesy, noted the special significance of MGIS GEOMIX, which lies in its focus not only on open-pit mining of solid minerals, but also on underground mining.

During the negotiations the creation of the GEOMIX competence center on the basis of INRTU was discussed. First stage of cooperation is expected to be the opening of a branded computer class, wh ere the full range of digital MGIS products will be available for students.

The cooperation agreement provides for the exchange of specialists for internships, joint research and commercial work, implementation of educational and innovative projects, etc.
