INRTU and Geely University will Launch Joint Program and Open Automotive Maintenance Training Center

Irkutsk National Research Technical University and Geely University, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at training specialists skilled in science, technology, international business, languages, and the cultures of both countries. This partnership will involve the implementation of joint educational programs and academic exchanges for faculty members.

Geely University is a private institution established by one of the leaders in the global automotive industry, Geely Holding Group. The university's campus spans 133 hectares and specializes in engineering disciplines, including automotive engineering, IT, and business. It currently hosts 26,000 students, with its curricula closely aligned with the needs of the automotive industry.

Following a visit by an INRTU delegation to Geely University in early April 2025, the parties agreed to launch a joint program for INRTU students enrolled in the English-language International Business program. In the first two years students will learn Chinese and specialized subjects at INRTU, followed by an in-depth study of international business in Chinese directly in Chengdu. This initiative aims to equip graduates to successfully work in enterprises in both countries.

To meet the demand for qualified personnel in the growing Geely car market in Russia, a specialized training center for Geely vehicle technical maintenance will be established at the Mechanical Engineering College of INRTU.

The universities plan to collaborate on master's and doctoral programs, including student and faculty exchange programs. During the visit, the possibility of organizing Russian language courses for Chinese students was also discussed.

"This is an important step in the development of our universities. We are creating conditions for our students to become true professionals, possessing not only deep technical knowledge but also an understanding of the cultural values of our partners," emphasized Stepan Bykov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs at INRTU.

The signing of this agreement will open new horizons for students, faculty, and industrial partners of INRTU, fostering stronger Russian-Chinese cooperation in higher education.
