INRTU and Dornogobi Aimag of Mongolia Expand Cooperation
INRTU welcomed a delegation from Dornogobi aimag led by Governor Ochirpurev Batjargal. At the meeting with the management of INRTU the parties discussed cooperation in education, professional development programs and targeted recruitment of Mongolian students.
The delegation was welcomed by Mikhail Korniakov:

“Our university fruitfully cooperates with colleagues from Mongolia. It is gratifying to note that INRTU graduates lead the country's largest companies.
Together we develop educational projects, conduct scientific research, as well as cultural and sporting events. Among the brightest projects in the field of sports we can name the ball hockey tournament “Cup of Two Lakes”, which takes place on Baikal and Khubsugul”.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the regional Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Irkutsk, the Consulate General of Mongolia in Irkutsk. Stepan Bykov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of INRTU, Ekaterina Samarkina, Director of the School of Power Engineering, and Boris Olzoev, Deputy Director of the School of Subsurface Resource Management, discussed cooperation issues on behalf of INRTU.
According to Stepan Bykov, about 60 Mongolian students are enrolled in INRTU:

“We hope that in the near future the number of students will double.
The first steps towards cooperation with the Dornogobi aimag were made in 2023, when we held the Days of Russian-Mongolian Friendship in the city of Sainshanda. Last year a delegation of teachers from this city visited INRTU”.
The Vice-Rector outlined areas of possible cooperation. He said that Mongolian citizens can study for free at the undergraduate programs of the School of Power Engineering. INRTU implements this educational project jointly with the Ministry of Education and Science of Mongolia and En+. Attractive conditions have been created for students enrolled in the program. They are provided with comfortable rooms in the dormitory, additional scholarship from En+ in the amount of 10 thousand rubles, and meals.
Stepan Bykov also invited students and schoolchildren from Dornogobi aimag to a free summer school of Russian language. Russian teachers from Mongolia would be interested in taking a professional development program at the Baikal School of BRICS. A similar program has been launched for Mongolian mathematics teachers.
“Each summer school is accompanied by an educational block, visits to objects of cultural, historical and natural heritage of the Baikal Region,” the Vice-Rector added.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the need to train specialists for industrial enterprises of Dornogobi aimag, the possibility of allocating target quotas for Mongolian students.
Ochirpurev Batjargal, Governor of Dornogobi aimag, thanked the INRTU's representatives for their warm welcome and expressed interest in further cooperation.

“During the visit, we attended schools and universities in Irkutsk. Many oil refineries and mining enterprises are being built in our aimag, so training qualified personnel is an important task.
The high educational standards of INRTU can be evaluated by the quality of graduates who develop the Mongolian economy. We aim to jointly train specialists in cooperation with INRTU,” says the Governor.
Among the promising areas of cooperation, Ochirpurev Batjargal named the training of students in energy fields, participation of aimag teachers in professional development programs. He also proposed to extend the Russian language learning program to specialists of Mongolian enterprises.
Within the framework of the event a video about the celebration of the Festival of Buryat and Mongolian culture “Tsagaan Sar” at INRTU was shown.
