Geely University Delegation Visits INRTU
Representatives of Geely University (Sichuan Province, China) met with INRTU Rector Mikhail Korniakov. The parties discussed educational projects in automotive engineering and cooperation in academic mobility.
Geely University is a private institution in Chengdu founded by Geely Holding Group. It specializes in engineering disciplines: engineering disciplines, including automotive engineering, IT, and business. Its curricula are closely aligned with the needs of the automotive industry. A cooperation agreement between INRTU and Geely University has been in effect since April 2025.
In late June, the Geely University delegation arrived at INRTU to participate in International Conference on Aviation Engineering. Visitors included Director of Geely University’s Aerospace Institute Professor Wang Wang, Institute Professor Fan Yuhan, and University Professor Li Yindong. The Chinese guests also met with Rector Mikhail Korniakov.
Vice-Rector for International Affairs Stepan Bykov disclosed meeting details. According to him, the parties explored joint project prospects, including a potential launch of an English-taught "International Business" bachelor’s program in 2026.

"It is proposed that Russian students will spend the first two years at the Baikal School of BRICS of INRTU. They will then continue their studies in Chengdu. Upon graduation, they will be prepared to participate in international projects requiring Chinese and English proficiency. The main thing is that graduates will gain competencies for managing international projects in the automotive and aviation industries. This will be one of the forward-looking programs training personnel to advance bilateral relations between Russia and China," said Stepan Bykov.
Additionally, the meeting discussed plans for the establishment of a master's program in mechanical engineering. Two project options for Chinese students have been considered. One option involves a one-year study period in Chengdu, followed by a one-year master's program in Irkutsk in the field of mechanical engineering. The other option involves the establishment of a joint program in aircraft construction.
The visit also covered academic exchanges, seasonal schools, scientific forums, and faculty development programs. Automotive engineering and vehicle maintenance projects announced during INRTU leadership’s April 2025 visit to Geely University were separately addressed.
