Foreign students of the International Preparatory Department of INRTU visited Lake Baikal

Last week foreign students of the International Preparatory Department of INRTU visited Lake Baikal.

Familiarization with the lake and its wonderful nature began with the ethnographic museum «Taltsy». The students had a great opportunity to listen to an interesting story guide, to see with their own eyes the old wooden houses of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, church and parish school, fortress, Buryat yurts, workshops of folk artists and other places.

The next point of the trip was Listvyanka village. Here they could see the majestic panorama of Baikal, admire the clear water of the lake, snowy peaks of the Sayan Mountains. Day on Baikal left an unforgettable impression and a sea of positivity, as well as a charge of vigor and strength!

«The road to Lake Baikal is a 60 kilometer journey. We rode in a comfortable, warm, modern bus, looked out the windows, admired the nature of Lake Baikal. I saw snow for the first time. It was great!» – Romeo, student from Cameroon.

«The scale of Baikal is impressive! It is not a lake, it’s an ocean! The water is very clear, you can even drink it. High mountains! Very beautiful!» – Daniella, a student from Nigeria.

«Listvyanka is a beautiful village. It stands on the shores of Lake Baikal, the air is clean. I tried the local cuisine. I liked it, especially the smoked omul.» – says Andres, student from Costa Rica.

«I liked Listvyanka. There were many tourists here from different cities in Russia. We got to know them. They are very friendly and polite people. Baikal is a beautiful lake! I bought souvenirs: a matryoshka doll and a toy bear.» – Wu Changxian from China.

«I liked the Taltsy museum. It is quite unusual, open-air! We went into ancient houses and fortresses. We walked around, rested and took pictures. We had a wonderful time. I would like to say a big thank you to the university teachers for the interesting excursion.» – exchange student Talitha from Indonesia.
