Folk club of the Russian song "Kalina" Won Grand Prize at the Regional “Student Spring” Festival

INRTU Art clubs and students of School of Economics, Management and Law successfully performed at the regional “Student Spring” festival. The highest award was won by folk club of the Russian song "Kalina".

The festival began on April 7 and took place at some of the city’s best venues. The program included over 250 creative performances. Participants showcased their talents in seven categories: dance, vocals, instrumental music, original comedy and media genres.

The gala concert and awards ceremony took place on April 26 in the assembly hall of Irkutsk State Transport University.

According to Tatyana Dashko, Director of the Center for Cultural and Educational Work at INRTU, all university groups that participated in the festival received laureate diplomas of various nominations:

"INRTU students won one grand prize, 10 diplomas of laureates of the first place, five diplomas of the second place and six diplomas of the third place. Performances by ‘Chechotka,’ ‘Ethnobeat,’ ‘Kalina,’ vocalists, and students of School of Economics, Management and Law were included in the gala concert program. In addition, INRTU has traditionally hosted the most popular nomination categories such as choreography and vocal, and has received positive feedback from the participants.

The head of “Kalina,” Irina Dolotova, shared that the grand prize was awarded for the performance “The Cossack Rode Back from the Fair”. Their other performances “At Dawn” and “Katyusha” received second-place diplomas.

"We always bring fresh performances to Student Spring, and this year was no exception. Right now, over half of our folk ensemble’s members are first-year students making their festival debut—so I’m especially proud of their results. They’ve done brilliantly," says Irina Dolotova.

A delegation of the festival's best performers will represent Irkutsk Region at the All-Russian "Student Spring" competition.
