Happiness in Lake Baikal
Hello! My name is Juana María, I am from Latin America, Colombia. I arrived in the city of Irkutsk on October 20, 2022 to start the Russian course at the BRICS Language School.
During my stay, I have been able to see part of the landscapes of the autumn, winter and spring seasons.
On March 19, 2023, I had the opportunity to visit with my friends from Cuba a beautiful place - Lake Baikal!
I know that the deepest and oldest lake in the world is is called "Lake Baikal" and it is located in Irkutsk city .This place is located in the south of Siberia, Russia, one hour from the Irkutsk city.
On March 19, 2023, I had the opportunity to go to this beautiful place with my friends from Cuba. We took advantage of the fact that at that time, the lake was thawing and the weather was around 8° Celsius, pleasant to go out.
I can personally say that when I got there, I was amazed by such a beautiful place, that day was one of the happiest and the most unforgettable days of my life, I couldn't believe that I was on Lake Baikal, in a frozen state.
We walked, contemplated and enjoyed this natural spectacle. While we were there, we took advantage of the natural environment to take pictures and to have fun.
That place brought back a lot of memories, including my family, my childhood, and my friends. In addition, the feeling of happiness of being able to enjoy life in this way, was like being in a movie place. It was amazing! It was not to be believed. Unique place!
Lake Baikal was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. It is one of the largest freshwater reserves in the world. I believe that all people have a responsibility to protect the environment even doing small actions, reducing, recycling and reusing. So, that future generation will have the opportunity to enjoy these natural wonders.
I would like to thank all the people who have allowed and given me the opportunity to be in Irkutsk, Russia. And I do really hope that people will take care of Lake Baikal!
