Teachers of Russian Language from China and Mongolia Receive Training at INRTU

INRTU has launched a summer school for Russian language teachers from China and Mongolia. Seventeen teachers showed interest in the free educational project.

The Consul of Mongolia in Irkutsk, Dondoo Chuluunbaatar, spoke at the opening of the school:

“We express our gratitude to INRTU for organizing courses for Russian language teachers from Mongolia. Additional training increases the knowledge of teachers on the history and traditions of Russia. Today, this is especially significant for us when the main direction of Mongolia's foreign policy is to strengthen cultural relations between countries.”

Anna Melentieva, Head of the International Affairs Department at INRTU, noted that the university accepts Russian teachers who want to improve their qualifications for the third time. In 2022, 28 teachers from Mongolian schools became participants. The second summer school includes two streams -the first group of nine teachers successfully completed training in July this year. For the next three weeks, 17 teachers will attend classes on the theory of the Russian language and teaching methods. In addition, excursions around Irkutsk are provided.

Ulziybayar Orasaa is an experienced Russian teacher from Mongolia. In 1992, she graduated from the Humanities Institute in Ulaanbaatar, completed an internship at the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute (Moscow). Ulziybayar has experience in methodological work, currently teaching children in grades 7-9 of school No. 2 (Zavkhan).

“The Mongolian Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature posted an announcement on social networks about courses at the Irkutsk National Research Technical University. I was interested in the opportunity to learn more about Russian nature, culture, and traditions. Knowledge of regional studies will help me organize thematic lessons, attract new children to the study of the Russian language,” Ulziybayar Orasaa said.

Wang Xiaoqian, a teacher from Heilongjiang University (Harbin, China), participated in the school for the first time. Previously, he got a degree in linguistics at the Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU).

“In high school, I taught Chinese to students and realized that I like working with young people. That is why, after returning to Harbin, I continued my teaching career. In June, I learned that two employees of Heilongjiang University could be accepted to the Russian language school at INRTU. Without hesitation, I submitted my candidacy because I want to gain knowledge about the methods of teaching foreign students. I also intend to do research in linguistics,” said Wang Xiaoqian.

The summer school will end on August 25. Students will receive certificates of completion of advanced training courses.
