Snow Hares Park appeared at INRTU

The VI Festival of Snow Sculptures was held at INRTU on February 15. Fifteen teams created cartoon hares during the tournament. The event was organized by the Youth Policy Department with the support of the Students Trade Union.

Vladimir Smirnov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, welcomed the festival participants:

"The Festival of Snow Sculptures has become a good tradition at the University. Polytechnic students create characters from cartoons and fairy tales every year."

Anna Lukianova, Arsalan Zandraev, Olga Kopyonkina and Grigorii Sverdlov, teachers of the Department of Monumental and Decorative Painting and Design named after V.G. Smagin, helped the contestants to implement the creative ideas. A team of vice-rectors participated in the festival for the first time and created a cheerful hare with a carrot.

"We really enjoyed working as a team and creating the cartoon character. It took a lot of effort to get the second rabbit's ear back," said Daria Lobanova, Vice-Rector for Youth Policy.

The experts paid attention to the quality and attractiveness of the sculptures, non-standard technical and artistic techniques, and matching with the theme of the festival while evaluation of the snow figures.

The team from the Siberian School of Geosciences presented a hare - participant of the field expedition. He holds a geological hammer and the flag of the school.

Future power engineers successfully made Kolobok last year. Having preferred round shapes, they created Krosh (one of the characters of "Smeshariki") this year.

Irkutsk Polytechnic Student Campus team won the competition. The second place went to the activists of the trade union of the School of Aircraft Construction, Mechanical Engineering and Transport - the creators of the robot rabbit from the cartoon "Nu, pogodi!". Students of the Mechanical Engineering College took the third place.

The winners were given souvenirs with a seal, the mascot of Irkutsk Polytechnic Institute, sweet pies and diplomas.

INRTU will celebrate the Maslenitsa on the square in front of the Baikal School of BRICS building on February 20 at 13:00.
