Doctor of Science and Mathematics, Professor Alexander Afanasiev will make a report on «Russian-Chinese scientific and technological cooperation in the field of development and implementation of new technologies». The scientist heads the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Laboratory at INRTU.

Rector of INRTU Mikhail Kornyakov emphasises that expanding and strengthening cooperation with BRICS partner countries is one of the university’s priority tasks. It is for this very purpose that Irkutsk Polytechnic established the BRICS Baikal Institute in 2018. The implementation of joint research and educational projects on its basis will help find the best practices for industrial development in developing countries.

«Today, Irkutsk Polytechnic is a leading research university in Eastern Siberia, combining the best traditions of the Russian engineering school in the field of subsoil use, power engineering, aircraft engineering, information technology, architecture and construction. INRTU is among the top 35 universities in Russia and the top 350 universities in the BRICS countries. In addition, we annually strengthen our position in international rankings reflecting the university’s efforts in the field of sustainable development.

Taking into account that the further development of BRICS countries is associated with the introduction of modern technologies, we see a great prospect in establishing cooperation with the BRICS Institute for the Study of Future Networks and hope that this international partnership will allow us to mutually reinforce each other and achieve high success in research and innovation," notes Rector Mikhail Korniakov.

About 18,000 students from 51 countries study at INRTU, including 360 international students from BRICS countries and over a thousand students from developing countries of West, East and North Africa, Central and East Asia.
