INRTU students reached the final of the CASE-IN Autumn Cup

The 10th anniversary season of the championship is held under the sign of Industry 4.0. In the qualifying stage, 721 youth teams worked on cases related to the development of digitalization and implementation of information technologies at the production sites of the Student League partners ALROSA, SIBUR, and Gazstroyprom. The 45 best teams have made it to the semi-finals, and nearly 100 students from 24 teams will share their developments with the experts in the decisive test.

Among the lucky ones are teams Teorema Lagrange and F Siberia. To get a ticket to the final, the young people coped with ALROSA's case "Digital industry: management of raw material base of mining enterprise". The guys got acquainted with the technology of mining and processing of diamond ore, analyzed the initial data and the main stages of the technological processes of the enterprise for the presence of Industry 4.0 elements, proposed solutions to upgrade the dispatching system of the enterprise, and also found ways to optimize the work with the quality of ore coming to the plant.

The team "Lagrange Theorem" included students of Irkutsk National Research Technical University, Siberian Federal University and Tyumen State University. Evgeny Rudykh (captain), Sergey Kobylinsky, Mikhail Semykin, Viktor Kovrignyh have been participating in the championship since 2020. They already have 4 CASE-IN finals to their credit.

"Our team proposed a set of measures to optimize the operation of ALROSA's Almazny open pit, namely the implementation of the automated control system of the open pit from GC Tsifra. This will improve the existing dispatching system and control the quality of ore at the equalization warehouse. We also offered to transfer mining transport equipment to an autonomous control system. All this will reduce the company's operating costs and improve efficiency. These solutions are in line with the company's innovative development program, and the software being implemented is not inferior to foreign competitors," team captain Yevgeny Rudykh reveals the essence of the project.

Students think the theme of the Industry 4.0 season is really relevant, as many companies are on the cusp of the fourth industrial revolution.

"The benefits of introducing new technologies are obvious: increased productivity, employee safety, increased competitiveness, and the creation of fundamentally new products," says Yevgeny Rudykh.

Participation in the championship taught the children to work effectively as a team, to listen to everyone's opinion and defend their own.

"Another important aspect is the ability to think in critical situations. For so many seasons, we've developed this skill so much that we can't think differently now. And, of course, it is impossible not to mention "pumping up" the skill of public speaking" says Mikhail Semykin.

Thanks to the championship, the competitors want to get a job at a large industrial company. They already have an idea of what a future employer should be like.

Sergey Kobylinsky: "A dream company is people who are constantly moving forward, coping with the most complex tasks and striving for perfection in everything. I am sure that those who see these qualities in themselves will be able to form a cohesive and friendly team and establish a productive and exciting work process."
