Achievements in fusion research and creation of environmentally friendly power generators were discussed at the INRTU forum

A scientific and practical conference "Applied Research in Physics" was held at Irkutsk Polytechnic university. Students and pupils of Irkutsk region presented their achievements in the field of fusion research, development of environmentally friendly generators, and use of new materials in jewellery industry.

The event was organised by the scientific society "Carbon" founded by Nikolay Konovalov, professor of the physics department of INRTU.

According to Danil Volygin, a Carbon activist, the forum interested over 30 students and schoolchildren from Irkutsk and Usolie-Sibirskoye. The participants presented papers in six sections related to the study of digital modelling, electromagnetic radiation, the use of new materials, and the relationship between physics and energy.

In the Energy Physics category, the first place was awarded to Baikal School of BRICS students Danil Volygin and Roman Maslennikov, as well as PhD student Alexander Sukhanov. The authors are supervised by Nikolay Ivanov, head of the research laboratory for X-ray structure analysis. Polytechnic students presented a concept for an electrochemical generator capable of generating electricity from hydrogen. Advantages of the development are affordability, environmental friendliness, fast refuelling time, high efficiency at temperatures from -40°C to 80°C, and unlimited operation with timely replacement of consumables. Potential customers are manufacturers of water vehicles, e.g. catamarans.
Yesseniya Itkulova and Pavel Tebyakin from "Siberia" Quantorium in Usolsk were named the best in the section "Computer Modeling of Nanomaterials and Technological Processes". They presented a project on an autonomous device for temperature and humidity control. The device is connected to an Arduino platform and Telegram messenger.

Future jewellers Alexandra Kolpashchikova and Maria Litvinova topped the speakers who talked about modern materials and technical solutions. The students shared the peculiarities of making jewellery using wax models.

Anna Noskova, a freshman at INRTU, won in the field " Solid State Physics". Her report is dedicated to the use of environmentally friendly and safe building materials.
