INRTU organized The Speaking club within the Summer International School for students from Mongolia

As a part of the Summer International School, INRTU organized a speaking club for students of the National University of Mongolia. Students fr om the Baikal School of BRICS made self-presentations, told the audience about the culture and traditions of various countries.

The International Summer School of Russian language started at Irkutsk National Research Technical University on June 6. Nine future interpreters and teachers of Russian language fr om Mongolia attended the course. The school is organized by the International Office led by Nina Berngard.

According to Nina Berngard, the program of the Summer School involves interaction between students fr om National University of Mongolia and Russian-speaking and foreign students of the Irkutsk National Research Technical University:

“Students fr om China, Nigeria, Colombia, Indonesia, India, Yemen, studying at the preparatory faculty, spoke during the model lesson.

The event made it possible to improve speaking skills of students fr om Mongolia and motivate them to study even more. At the end of the Summer School, students will present their own projects in Russian.”

Natalia Petrova, Deputy Director for Educational Work of the BS BRICS, noted that speakers talked about national traditions and dishes, shared their impressions of studying at INRTU.

The model lesson started with a musical composition performed by Amr Mahmud, INRTU student and a member of the Ethnobit studio.

Roman Maslennikov, future power engineer, told what disciplines he is mastering at the BS BRICS. He studies German and English and actively participates in research work:

“Our team, led by Nikolai Ivanov, Associate Professor of the Department of Radio Electronics and Telecommunication Systems, is developing an electrochemical generator for eco-transport in the Baikal waters.”

Roman shared photos of his family and pet, a dog named Cherry, with the audience. He dreams of traveling a lot:

“I have been to Thailand, Vietnam, Great Britain, Spain, and this summer I intend to go to Mongolia.”

Third-year student Anna Makarova said that she is fond of learning English and Chinese. Her interests include gardening, photography and travel. Anna recommended students from Mongolia to try Russian cuisine - borsch, pancakes and okroshka.

The participants of the model lesson were interested in the presentations of the future linguist Alexandra Lipilina and the AI specialist Dmitry Nikolaev.

According to Dmitry, he learned about the Baikal School of BRICS through participation in the international festival "Future Leaders of Eurasia", wh ere he took second place. He presented the Buryat culture, traditions and national cuisine of this nation:

“I advise you to try the buuz and khuushuur, which we also call “meat pears”.

At the university, Dmitry Nikolaev heads the Black Seal sports mafia club. He explained the differences between sports mafia and a city mafia and suggested organizing a tournament with the participation of foreign students.

Summing up the event, Nina Berngard noted that each speech caused a lively discussion:

“Students of the National University of Mongolia asked many questions and actively joined the discussion. Our department has developed a cultural and entertainment program for students. The students from Mongolia, together with the students of INRTU, visited the Mineralogical Museum of INRTU named in honor of A.V. Sidorov, the house-museum "Volkonsky Manor House", "Museum at the dump", made walks along the Upper and Lower quays, the dam of Irkutsk Hydroelectric Power Station. The students were greatly impressed by the excursions to Irkutsk Regional Museum of Local History, the Centre of Contemporary Art "Fire", learned the history of the memorial complex "Jerusalem Hill".

On weekends, the participants of the Summer School will travel to Listvyanka and visit the architectural and ethnographic museum “Taltsy”.
