INRTU Mechanical Engineers Perform Works in the Interests of Yakovlev, Regional Aircraft Branch
INRTU was visited by representatives of Yakovlev Regional Aircraft Branch and KAPO-Composite. They got acquainted with the equipment of the university laboratories, assessed the progress of the on-going R&D, and outlined further plans for cooperation.
The delegation from Regional Aircraft Branch included Kristina Klantsova, Head of the Research and Development Institute for Technical Support of Projects, and Nikolay Protasov, Head of the Nonmetallic Materials Team of the Materials Science Department. KAPO-Composite was represented by Eugeny Masokhin, Chief Technologist.
Currently INRTU employees have started to perform works in the interests of Regional Aircraft Branch. The researchers are testing drills for high-precision holes on samples of mixed packages, which are part of the SSJ-NEW aircraft design. This tool was patented by the university staff jointly with the Irkutsk Aviation Plant. The drill proved itself well on the prototypes simulating the joint of the wing center section of the MC-21 aircraft.
According to Kristina Klantsova, the company aims to improve the quality of hole processing and reduce the labor intensity of this process. It is planned that the development of INRTU employees will make it possible to achieve these goals.
"The first part of the project is to demonstrate the INRTU drill and test it on our samples. The next stage includes the development of technologies applicable to the design of the combat wing of the SSJ-NEW aircraft, as well as the creation of the tool itself. Employees of university organized for us a tour of the laboratories, during which we were able to assess the university's material and technical base. In their projects, students use advanced equipment that allows them to perform work that meets our requirements," says Kristina Klantsova.Yuri Ivanov, Head of the laboratory ‘Digital Technologies of Production from Polymer Composite Materials’ told the guests about the development of the university in the field of composites and presented the prototypes.
He advised that the INRTU mechanical engineers have big plans for the next year:
“We have conducted pilot tests for Regional Aircraft Branch and obtained positive results. Now we are busy preparing the technical specifications for continuation of works taking into account the requirements of the customer. We plan to extend the results obtained to other enterprises of the country.”The manufacturers were also interested in the activities of the of Hybrid Additive Technologies laboratory in the field of growing metal products. Andrey Balanovsky, Head of the INRTU Department of Materials Science, Welding and Additive Technology, showed samples made for aviation and energy enterprises of the region.
Eugeny Masokhin shared his impressions of the INRTU developments:
"It was useful to learn about the promising areas that are being developed at Irkutsk Technical University. We are ready to consider co-operation with the university in the field of additive technologies and 3D-printing of composite materials".According to the head of the strategic project, i.DIT (Priority 2030 Program) Alexander Makaruk, the university continues to increase cooperation with aircraft manufacturers:
