INRTU launches Russian language courses for students of National University of Mongolia for the first time

The International Summer School of Russian language for students from National University of Mongolia started at Irkutsk National Research Technical University on June 6. 9 future translators and teachers attended the course. The organizer of the school is the INRTU International office which is headed by Nina Berngard.

The rector of Irkutsk National Research Technical University, Mikhail Korniakov, welcomed guests from Mongolia. He pointed out that in 2010, the university received the status of a National Research University.

"Only 29 universities in Russia were honored with this title. We also signed up for the federal program Priority 2030.

The opening ceremony of the International Summer School on June 6th is symbolic. Today, Russia celebrates the birthday of Alexander Pushkin and the Day of the Russian Language. I wish you a productive study. "

Mikhail Korniakov presented the Polytechnic University's talisman, a scientist seal, to a student Ganjiguur Bat-Ireedui, who celebrated his 20th birthday the day before (June 5th).

Vice-Rector for International Affairs of INRTU Stepan Bykov noted that the university has been training qualified personnel for the benefit of the Mongolian mining industry for a long time:

“Currently, about 50 Mongolian students are studying at INRTU. The summer courses will also enhance cooperation between the two countries in the field of linguistics.”

School classes will be held at the site of the Baikal BRICS Institute, headed by Anna Kireenko: “Comfortable conditions have been created at our institute. There are spaces for both work and leisure. You will be able not only to gain valuable knowledge, but also to meet other students.”

The course program includes three busy weeks. During this period, students of the National University of Mongolia will study vocabulary, grammar and phonetics of the Russian language. The students will consolidate the theoretical knowledge gained by practicing during cultural events.

Guests from Mongolia will get acquainted with the history and sights of the capital of the Angara and Baikal region. They will go on walking tours, visit theaters, museums, and Lake Baikal.

The final event of the course will be the preparation and presentation of a project in Russian. Each student who successfully completes the program will receive a certificate from the Irkutsk National Research Technical University.

Agiimaa Badmaarag, a sophomore of the National University of Mongolia, came to the Summer School upon recommendation of her teachers.

“The staff of the INRTU greeted us kindly and placed us in the university dormitory.

In the future I will work as a Russian language translator. I am sure that studying at INRTU and communicating with native speakers will improve my speaking and writing skills,” says Agiimaa Badmaarag.

Nina Berngard expressed her hope that the students from National University of Mongolia will participate in future schools:

“Earlier, there was a school project on the topic of climate change with lessons on learning the Russian language. We plan to continue such practices among schoolchildren and students from different countries.”

In the summer of 2021, INRTU organized the Summer School of Professional Development for Mongolian teachers of Russian language.
