INRTU develops international cooperation and implements digital transformation

INRTU Rector Mikhail Korniakov told the participants of the extended meeting of the Academic Council about international activities and digital transformation. These issues were included in the university report and implementation of the Development Program 2022.

According to the rector, the income from international affairs has increased compared to the previous year and amounted to 87.5 million rubles. Half of this amount is provided by BS BRICS.

Mikhail Korniakov said,

“The number of foreign students has slightly decreased. At the same time, the number of students of the preparatory department has increased. Last year there were 379 foreign citizens studying at this department, while in 2021 there were only 170 students.

Today we have international students from 44 countries. Most of them are from the CIS countries, 30% are from China and 16% are from African countries.

Our international activity shows positive results. Every year we receive more scholarships from Rossotrudnichestvo (Russian house). The amount of funding for international student training increases accordingly.”

Mikhail Korniakov considers the launch of new English-taught academic programs to be a great achievement:

"INRTU launched a joint educational program in aircraft engineering with Binzhou University (China, Shandong Province) in 2022. We visited the Chinese university together with the head of the program, Andrei Savilov, in May. The students are happy and proud to study in this program. They have a special uniform that singles them out among other students. The training was conducted in an online format. Starting from September, our teachers will go to China to give lectures."

In addition, Irkutsk Technical University implements a double degree program in economics together with the Institute of Finance and Economics (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia).

In order to increase the enrollment in the academic programs and the level of Russian language proficiency among foreign students, free preparatory courses have been launched. The university has implemented a reward system for the students of preparatory department.

INRTU digital transformation is focused on the development of services that increase the efficiency of educational and financial activities of the university. A BI-system based on data from the university's information systems and their visualization through Yandex DataLens was created for management decisions.

The project management system based on CRM Bitrix24 was launched. The connection to the National Research Computer Network of Russia (NIKS) was implemented.

The connection to DDoS-Guard was made to ensure the protection of Internet resources and digital services from external attacks.

Seven Wi-Fi zones have been created. There is a gradual transition to domestic software.

Integration with the state information systems (Unified Portal of State Services, Enroll to University Online super-service, Modern Digital Educational Environment) was carried out.

INRTU Rector Mikhail Korniakov also paid attention to human capital development programs in his report. The amount of financing for these purposes in 2022 was 10.4 million rubles, while in 2021 it was 6.5 million rubles.

The university runs a competition "Professor-Researcher", aimed at supporting and developing the scientific capacity of INRTU researchers. The "Future Teacher" competition, which is supported by industrial partners, helps talented young people build their careers at the university. "Targeted Master's Degree/Postgraduate Program" will allow preparing highly qualified employees for research and teaching activities at INRTU.

After completing his report, Mikhail Korniakov answered the questions of professors and students. The questions were about the rating scholarships, renovation of dormitories, arrangement of sports facilities, etc.

The Academic Council of IRNITU highly appreciated the achievements of the university for 2022 and approved the report of the rector.
