INRTU actively develops project education

The students of INRTU are involved in project activities. In association with mentors they carry out work in the interests of industrial companies - partners of the university.

According to the information provided by Pavel Chimitov, the head of the INRTU Center of Project Education, in 2022-2023 student teams will develop about 260 ideas, including the cases of the companies-customers.

Professors encourage student initiatives. A foresight game was organized in May 2022. Projects that received high grades will continue as part of the project activities.

As students are engaged in solving applied engineering problems, industrial partners are interested in the results of many interdisciplinary projects.
The activity of one of the student teams is supervised by Vladimir Shishkanov and Maria Syroezhkina, senior lecturers of the Department of Drawing, Design Fundamentals and Historical and Architectural Heritage.

The students were assigned the task of finding, systematizing and digitalizing data on sites of historical significance. The customer is the Cultural Heritage Protection Service of the Irkutsk region headed by Vitaly Sokolov.

«It is necessary to have complete information about the development of various types of buildings to design in the historical part of the city. The information is in the sources, which are not always easy to access. In addition, most of the materials are kept in the archive on paper. This is why the proposal to create digital thematic maps is relevant», - said Maria Syroezhkina.

As a result of the scientific study, the students and mentors concluded that the list of attributes of objects needs to be expanded. Now the list of attributes includes 26 names.

The INRTU students have mastered the geographic information system QGIS and created an interactive map on which they have marked 490 buildings of central part of Irkutsk and Sverdlovsk district.

In the new academic year, the department's team will continue to work in this direction. Future restorers, designers, architects and IT specialists will join the project.

Projects are defended at conferences organized by the respective departments with the involvement of experts.
