Graduation of School of Subsurface Resource Management and Siberian School of Geosciences (SSG)

183 graduates of School of Subsurface Resource Management and Siberian School of Geosciences (SSG) received their diplomas. 40 students of IRNTU graduated with honors. The ceremony was held on July 12 in the auditorium of IRNTU.

Rector Mikhail Korniakov addressed a video message to the graduates. Vladimir Smirnov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, emphasized that being a student is the best time in everyone's life:

“Studying at the university, we acquire professional skills, meet friends and likeminded people. I wish you to keep the feeling of belonging to the big and friendly family of Irkutsk National Research Technical University”.

Traditionally, the graduates were welcomed by the partner companies of the university. Alexey Shuvalov, CEO of “PROEKT” and Konstantin Ryzhakov, Head of Engineering Surveys at “Progress” (Khabarovsk) expressed their interest in young specialists.

Renat Akchurin, First Deputy Director and Technical Director of the Irkutsk branch of “RN-BURENIE” said that the company has been engaged in well-drilling for 13 years. Students of IRNTU can consider vacancies in branches located in Krasnoyarsk Krai and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

Mikhail Bytsin, an expert in gas processing at Irkutsk Oil Company, said that he met the graduates during their internship, including as part of the “University-Factory” program. The company is ready to hire young engineers.
The team of Siberian School of Geosciences (SSG) headed by Alexander Parshin has trained 47 geologists and geophysicists, IT specialists in subsoil development and exploration. He said:

“For many of you, career path began already as students at the Siberian School of Geosciences. Some of you chose to work at industry enterprises. I hope that we will meet at fieldwork and conferences and, perhaps, get into a scientific debate. Having become professionals, you will employ IRNTU graduates and invite them to internships”.

Graduate Anton Lazurchenko (major “Geological exploration technology and engineering”) combined his studies with his work as a senior laboratory researcher at SSG. He participated in field and scientific projects, and in January 2023 won “Engineers of Siberia” scholarship. In addition, Anton gained programming skills to analyze geodata. The student intends to engage in scientific and teaching activities. He noted:

"I was interested in research projects in the field of electrical exploration by Yuri Alexandrovich Davydenko, who passed away not so long ago. We performed all kinds of work - from planning to writing production reports. The knowledge acquired during the years of study and practice, I presented in my diploma project and received an "excellent" grade. I will continue to do science in postgraduate studies.”

“I am also interested in teaching. Last summer I supervised the internship of geophysicists of the 2nd year on the base of "Chernorud", taught them to work with equipment, gave tasks. Junior researchers of the Siberian School of Geosciences set a good example for me in this”

After receiving his diploma, graduate Alexei Sunduev proposed to Tatiana Badmaeva. She said yes. The hall exploded with applause and congratulations.

Alexey Shevchenko, Director of School of Subsurface Resource Management, gave diplomas to 136 graduates, 28 of whom graduated with honors. These are oilmen, jewelers, ecologists, labor safety engineers and geodesists. In his speech, Alexey Shevchenko addressed the graduates:

“As you begin your journey in the professional; carrier, remember that the production family is behind you. Be responsible and attentive, gain experience and improve your qualifications. We will be waiting for you already as specialists willing to share knowledge with students”

A festive program was prepared by the Career Center, the Center for Cultural, Mass and Educational Work. The event was hosted by Sergey Travnikov, a senior student of "Department of Mineral Processing and Environmental Protection" and an actor of the theater "Predmestye". The guests were delighted by the School of Modern Choreography "Shagi" and the ethnic percussion studio "Etnobit" (including Anna Melnikova, a graduate of School of Subsurface Resource Management).

Video footage of the best moments of students' life was complemented by the song "It's Time to Go" written by Evgeny Smirnov, the founder of the show group "Mimino". The composition was performed by Prokhor Lantsov, a graduate of the School of Architecture, Construction and Design and a member of "Sing, Friend!" music band Prokhor Lantsov.
