Five postgraduate students received INRTU Rector’s scholarships

INRTU has determined postgraduate students - winners of the competition for the rector's scholarship. The scholarship is awarded for outstanding achievements in research activities. The students will be paid 10 thousand rubles fr om September 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024.

The winners are Anastasia Petrova, Alexander Chugunov, Yuri Novikov, Alexander Gruzdev and Maria Morgunova.

Anastasia Petrova, a postgraduate student of the Institute of Power Engineering ("Electrical and Thermal Engineering"), graduated with honors fr om two universities in 2019 - INRTU and BSU, having got a degree in engineering and law. During her studies, she published over 20 scientific papers, was awarded scholarships by the President and Government of the Russian Federation, the Governor of the Irkutsk region and the Mayor of Irkutsk. She has experience in participating in case studies and research projects, organizing events for students and schoolchildren, worked as a stand-in for the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Irkutsk region.

While getting a master’s degree, Anastasia proved herself as a talented researcher, becoming the winner of the "SMART GUY" program of the Innovation Promotion Foundation. She developed a software and hardware complex of digital monitoring to reduce thermal power plants losses.

In 2021, Anastasia Petrova successfully passed the competitive selection of the human resources development program "Future Teacher of INRTU", which is carried out at the university with the support of industrial partners, offering talented young people to build a career at the university. Currently, she works as an assistant at the Thermal Power Engineering Department.

Alexander Chugunov, a postgraduate student of the High Technologies Institute in the field of Chemical Sciences, graduated from bachelor's and master's degrees with honors, entered the "TOP 100 best graduates of INRTU". Earlier, Alexander repeatedly got scholarships from the President and government of the Russian Federation, the Governor of the Irkutsk region, the Mayor of Irkutsk, BP, as well as the V.I. Vernadsky Foundation.

A postgraduate student Yuri Novikov works in various fields, including metallurgy, ecology and mineral processing. He has won prizes in the accelerator "Laboratory of Energy", the All-Russian competition "RUSAL Laboratory". The graduate student got a good production experience - he worked in shifts at JSC "Gold of Seligdar" and the Kola MMC, at the Natalka GOK (JSC "Polyus Magadan").

Yuri was interested in research practice in the laboratories of the TOMS Institute, wh ere he studies the processes of disintegration of mineral raw materials (Verninskoye deposit ore ) in conditions of negative temperatures. The topic corresponds to the strategic direction of the university i.GeoDesign. The young scientist has published three articles in journals included in Scopus in collaboration with Associate Professor of the Department of Mineral Processing and Environmental Protection Alexander Burdonov.

It should also be noted that in 2021, Yuri Novikov was awarded a scholarship to LLC "Research and Design Institute "Technologies of Mineral Processing"" (Institute "TOMS"). The scholarship for a young specialist within the framework of the Priority 2030 program is 30 thousand rubles per month for the entire period of study.

Rector's scholarship holder Alexander Gruzdev is mastering mechanical engineering technologies at INRTU. The student was the leader in two nominations at once - "Innovative production technologies" and "Digital technologies in mechanical engineering and construction". Last year, the report of Alexander Gruzdev, a postgraduate student of the university, was recognized as the best at the international conference "Problems of Mechanics of Modern Machines" (Ulan-Ude). The author was the leader in two nominations at once - "Innovative production technologies" and "Digital technologies in mechanical engineering and construction".

A postgraduate student in the framework of the discipline "Project Activity" supervises a group of students who are engaged in forecasting flight delays using machine learning methods. Alexander Gruzdev considers the construction of predictive models as an environment for training, wh ere children will receive additional competencies.

A postgraduate student of the High Technologies Institute Maria Morgunova in 2022 took part in the organization and holding of the foresight conference "Selection of ideas "Chemistry based on data". During the brainstorming session, the teams generated ideas for the formation of a portfolio of projects of the Federal Chemistry Center in Usolye-Sibirskoe. She proved herself in a project related to the construction of a plant for the synthesis of protein and amino acids based on recycled agricultural and food waste. While studying for a master's degree, Maria was a scholarship holder of the Russian Federation Government.

The Rector's scholarships will be paid to postgraduate students from the funds of the Priority 2030 Program, as well as from university revenues.
