Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Irkutsk Visited INRTU

Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Irkutsk Han Seong Chin visited INRTU. During the meeting with Rector Mikhail Kornyakov and representatives of INRTU’s International Department, the issues of cooperation with Korean universities were discussed.

According to the Consul General, in today's conditions it is important for the universities of both countries to intensify cooperation in educational and cultural spheres:

"INRTU is highly ranked in Russia and the world. We are interested in taking part in international events organized by INRTU. For our part, we always warmly welcome the Russians. Our state provides funds for the organization of Korean language courses in Russian universities and schools. The Consulate General provides methodological and study materials for the educational process."

Rector Mikhail Kornyakov said that INRTU has signed agreements in the field of education and science with leading Korean universities, including Konkuk University (Seoul), Busan University of Foreign Studies, Pusan National University, Changwon National University, Kangwon National University, Inha University, Ajou University and others.

INRTU develops academic student exchanges with Korean universities. In 2019-2024, 24 INRTU students became participants of international academic mobility programs for student exchange with universities of the Republic of Korea with the purpose of "inclusive study", two more students completed language internships for 1-2 semesters.

In the spring semester of academic year 2023/2024, Lee Seonyeong, a student from Chung-Ang University, has been studying within the student exchange program at INRTU.

INRTU students attend Korean language and culture summer and winter schools in person and online at Kangwon National University and Changwon National University.


Melentiev Energy Systems Institute SB RAS and INRTU Baikal School of BRICS together with Inha University are implementing the 'Method of renewable energy management based on artificial intelligence to improve the sustainability of energy systems' project.

In December 2023, INRTU was visited by representatives of Construction and Economy Research Institute of Korea. The parties discussed the cooperation opportunities.

Raisa Lobatskaya, Professor, Head of the Department of Jewelry Design and Technology of INRTU School of Subsurface Resource Management, annually participates in the Daejeon International Art Exhibition organized by the Korean Association of Art and Culture (representative office in Daejeon). In 2022 Raisa Lobatskaya presented art photographs at the exhibition, in 2023 she acted as an art historian.

Since the beginning of the 2023/2024 academic year, INRTU Baikal School of BRICS has been teaching Korean as a second foreign language on a commercial basis. A group of seven students from such majors as "Linguistics and Business Communications", "Journalism and Media Communications", "Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science" is being trained.

The visit of the Consul General of the Republic of Korea ended with an excursion to the Mineralogical Museum named after A.V. Sidorov.
