Baikal Student Spring - 2024 Festival Launched at INRTU

INRTU launched the Baikal Student Spring Festival, dedicated to the theme "The Edge of Spring: Compose, Surprise, Act". Rector Mikhail Kornyakov took part in the concert program of the School of Subsurface Resource Management.

The Student Spring is organized by the Center for Cultural and Educational Work and the Students' Union. The program covers more than 20 projects, including the Drum Sniper contest, Potok art laboratory, ballroom dance festival, an exhibition of works by the Department of Monumental and Decorative Painting and Design named after V.G. Smagin, etc. However, as before, the most outstanding event remains the competition of concert programs by INRTU Schools and Departments.

Mikhail Kornyakov congratulated the participants on the start of the Festival. He wished the teams a successful performance. The Rector also recalled that in his youth he was the host of the "Studvesna" ("Student Spring"), improvised at the performances of the Mining Department (the former name for the School of Subsoil Resource Management).

Mikhail Kornyakov, at the request of future subsoil users, supported their performance on March 19. This School was the leader in the concert program competition. The participants won the competition with their performances united by the "Brain Gaidai" theme.

This time they told the story of a young man who was going to move to Irkutsk with his family. The guy had friends in his hometown, and in the new place, it seemed to him, only uncertainty and loneliness awaited him. On the plane, the young man talked to a man who told him about the significant places of Irkutsk and emphasized that INRTU School of Subsurface Resource Management is a great starting point for success.

Then the hero walks through the city, meets an old friend, talks to a taxi driver. Everyone he talks to, in one way or another, admires INRTU. Moreover, Mikhail Kornyakov played the applicant's father and himself as the Rector, and the role of a fellow traveler on the plane went to the Head of the School of Subsurface Resource Management Alexey Shevchenko. They also performed the final song together with the team, which greatly resonated with the audience – everyone turned on their flashlights and sang along.

Ivan Puchkov, a first-year student and future surveyor, played the role of the son. He emphasized that the show touched on the problems of parent-child relationships and family disunity. The student's school experience of theatrical shows was of great use to him.

The mini play included dance and singing pieces. The students prepared a K-pop style dance. Victor Filatov read a poem by Yevgeny Yevtushenko "I am different". The future oilman Mikhail Shobolov and IrGUPS (Irkutsk State Transport University) student Denis Yakovlev, who sang a song about a close person in the Buryat language, received a huge applause.

In the INRTU assembly hall, the concert program by School of Subsoil Resource Management was taken up by the Baikal School of BRICS, School of Architecture, Construction and Design, etc. The students' performances were evaluated by a competent jury.

In addition, the Student Spring program included a nomination contest. The participants presented vocal, choreographic, theatrical pieces, performed author's songs, competed in instrumental and synth genres.

According to Tatyana Dashko, Head of the Center for Cultural, Mass and Educational Work, this contest was held for the first time. It is aimed at gifted students who for some reason could not perform in the concert program.

"The contestants showed a good level. In three hours we saw about 40 performances. They were amateur shows, duets. We also saw new projects of Ethnobit, Chechetka, Lumos, Shagi School and Pop Vocal Studio," said Tatyana Dashko.

The nomination contest was opened by students Victoria Ovsyannikova, Tumendemberel Zolboo and Simbiak Ruben Romario Ratu. They performed the song "Leave the Door Open" in English. Eric Sokolov and Ailana Syrenova performed the dance "Who?

The participants of the rock club "For Rock" presented the composition "Circles on Water" in the "Instrumental Genre" nomination. "Happiness is the Way" was the title of the theatrical miniature by Olga Borisova.

Vera Trifonova took part in several performances at the same time. She went on stage with the members of the Rock Club, sang "Lullaby" at the Shagi School performance. The student also performed a lyrical song "Russia is Called Holy". As Vera said, this composition was a tribute to the time when she was engaged in creative work in her native village Kachug:

"I have been singing since I was a child. Creativity is my escape, a good way to rest after mental work".

The names of the winners of the Baikal Student Spring Festival will be announced at the Gala Concert on March 27. On Thursday, March 28, the Predmestye Folk Theatre will present the premiere of the play "It's Quiet Here at Dawn".
