Alexander Burdonov Shared INRTU's Practice in Aluminium Waste Recycling at the Conference in Baotou (China)
2023 Silk Road International Conference was held in Baotou, Inner Mongolia, China, on 7-9 December. The conference was dedicated to the development of cooperation among industrial, educational and scientific organizations in the field of ‘green’ metallurgy and new materials. The large-scale event was attended by Alexander Burdonov, Associate Professor of the Department of Mineral Processing and Environmental Protection named after S.B. Leonov, and Wang Aiqing, a postgraduate student of the department.
The conference was organized by the Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology at the initiative of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. The forum brought together experts from China, Mongolia, Canada, Belarus, Australia and other countries. The experts exchanged research and practices in low-carbon metallurgy, use of rare earth resources, creation of new materials and reducing environmental risks in mineral processing.
Alexander Burdonov spoke at the section ‘Green Mining and Utilisation of Strategic Resources’. The Associate Professor spoke on recycling waste from aluminium production to minimize environmental risks. According to Alexander Burdonov, this topic corresponds to the global agenda and the tasks that INRTU is solving within the Priority 2030 Program.
“The topic of ‘green’ technologies is one of our priorities. At the moment, at the Department of Mineral Processing and Environmental Protection, we at the department are implementing the project "Digital and Production Technologies in Mineral Processing" as part of the Priority 2030 Program. We pay great attention to environmental safety and green technologies. In particular, we carry out a number of projects in the interests of ALROSA and Udinsk Zoloto (Khabarovsk Territory), dealing with monitoring of tailing ponds and conservation of quarries. Together with IZTM-Engineering we work on slurry thickening. Also, under the guidance of Professor Elena Zelinskaya we are implementing a project for efficient and safe processing of hydromineral raw materials. Employees of the department have been working on the issues of processing waste from aluminum production for quite a long time. We are currently working under a contract with RUSAL. The technology we offer includes raw material preparation, photometric separation, gravity and flotation separation. The results of this project were partially presented at the Plaksin Readings this fall in Moscow,” - said Alexander Burdonov. At the conference in Baotou Alexander Burdonov also discussed the possibility of co-operation in science and education with representatives of the Pavel Sukhoi State Technical University, Gomel, Republic of Belarus.
