Teachers from the School of Linguistics and Intercultural Communication at INRTU attended a course held by a teacher from Great Britain
The course "Modern Educational Technologies in Teaching Foreign Language in Higher Education" was completed by the teachers of English from the School of Linguistics and Intercultural Communication of INRTU.
According to the director of the school Olga Kolmakova the idea of the course appeared after visiting a master class for teachers organized by "Easy school". The master class was led by Ryan McGuckin, who has a TESOL certificate issued by Trinity College, London. In addition, Ryan is an official Cambridge and Trinity examiner and has the right to prepare students for international English exams.
“During the master class teachers discussed traditional and innovative technologies and methods of teaching students all language skills such as reading, listening, writing, speaking; and formation of grammar, lexical and phonetic competences. Learned skills were immediately applied into practical activities.
Ryan's work found a great response among teachers, and it was decided to continue cooperation within the framework of a longer training course aimed to improve professional competence of English teachers," reports Olga Kolmakova.
According to Galina Ageyeva, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages No. 2, this professional development course was probably one of the brightest, most useful and effective:
"There were no tedious lectures, no arrogant teachings, and no deviations from the main topic. The material was presented energetically and cheerfully. We practiced creative tasks and generated new ideas at a good pace!"
Ryan McGuckin shared his impressions of working with the teachers from INRTU:
"They are an amazing team with a high level of teaching competence. The teachers are highly motivated to improve their professional skills. During the sessions we have been reviewing many of the language teaching methods and reinforcing them in practice. Different aspects of teaching English as a foreign language were discussed, such as "Error Correction” and "Pronunciation". It was a great experience for me, and I'm looking forward to meeting the teachers from INRTU again and hearing their feedback.”
