Stepan Bykov, Vice-Rector of INRTU, Reached the Superfinal of the Leaders of Russia Anniversary Contest
Stepan Bykov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of INRTU, is in the lead in the finals of the Leaders of Russia competition in the Siberian Federal District. The INRTU representative got himself a pass to the superfinal to be held in Moscow in 2024.
The Leaders of Russia management tournament is the "Russia - a Country of Opportunities" presidential platform project. The SFD final took place in Novosibirsk on October 6-8. Along with Stepan Bykov, the University was represented at the competition by other INRTU members - Alexey Govorkov, Alina Kuzmina and Klimentiy Batoroev.
In total, 253 participants competed in the district final. The award ceremony was held at the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater (NOVAT), where the names of 28 winners were announced. The NOVAT leading actors prepared creative gifts for the winners.
Alexei Makukhin, Deputy Head of the Central Supply Directorate of JSC Russian Railways, and Andrey Stafievsky, representative of The Golden Time of Siberia LLC, on the Irkutsk Region side, also made it to the superfinal. Igor Kobzev, the Irkutsk Region Governor, congratulated the Irkutsk contestants on their victory.
As given by the official press-release, the Region’s Head emphasized:
"Even though the competition was really strong, the representatives of the Irkutsk Region proved themselves worthy. I congratulate our three winners. I hope that the knowledge and experience they have gained will be applied for the benefit of their region, and their further work will be aimed at the development of the Irkutsk Region".
According to Stepan Bykov, the tournament involved intensive work. At the start, the contestants held the "Leadership Lesson. Value Guidelines" workshop for schoolchildren of Novosibirsk.
"The organizers developed a plan of the lesson, during which we introduced students to traditional Russian values approved by Presidential Decree No. 809. My partner and I held a master class at comprehensive school No. 90 and received positive feedback fr om the children. Аt the end of the lesson, they left their comments on special cards".
The competition day continued at the Novosibirsk Expocentre, wh ere the participants met with the winners of the last season, experts from the recruitment agency of the "Russia - the Country of Opportunities" platform, representatives of major employers and the Governor of the Tomsk Region Vladimir Mazur.
On October 7-8, the contestants’ crew further solved time trial-format managerial cases. During the intensive they proved themselves as organizers, team leaders, change agents, strategists, reformers and communicators.
The teamwork of each participant was evaluated by the experts. According to the test results, all finalists received recommendations on the management skills development.
Stepan Bykov noted that his INRTU-based managerial position experience encouraged him to succeed in completing the tasks:
"I did not specifically prepare for the tournament, but I really believed in my victory until the end. In 2021, I became the leader in the Science track of the Leaders of Russia competition, although I failed to reach the superfinal.
There are some competencies that should be upgraded systematically. For example, you cannot learn English in a single night. Leadership skills can also be acquired only by practicing constantly.
Stepan Bykov added that a total of 300 people who won the district contests would reach the superfinal.
