Russian Language Teachers from Mongolia, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan Improve Skills at INRTU
The annual international Summer School for professional development of Russian language teachers is taking place at INRTU. 14 teachers fr om Mongolia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan are participating in the first session. A rich cultural programme was prepared for them by the University.
The project started on July 1 and is organized by the Center for International Services led by Asya Kontrimovich. She said that INRTU has been holding summer schools for foreign teachers since 2022.
"At first, only Mongolian teachers came to us. Then representatives from China and Nigeria joined. This year, we are welcoming teachers from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan for the first time.
In the first half of the day, the participants learn Russian language teaching methods from teachers from the Baikal School of BRICS. Then they go on excursions to museums and visit sights in the Irkutsk region. We also offered the teachers library cards to the I.I. Molchanov-Sibirsky Scientific Library," explained Asya Kontrimovich.
In their free time, the guests of INRTU visited the Valentin Rasputin Museum, the "Dias" Art Gallery, the A.V. Sidorov Mineralogical Museum, and the planetarium. The school program also includes excursions to the "Ogon" Contemporary Art Center, Irkutsk Datsan, Kazan Church, Listvyanka, and the Taltsy Architectural and Ethnographic Museum.
Larisa Orinina represents the Tajik National University, wh ere she works in the international department and the Russian philology faculty. She learned about the project from Vice-Rector for International Affairs Stepan Bykov and Head of the International Affairs Department Anna Melenteva.
"INRTU announced the start of the school during a trip to Tajikistan. As a philologist, I always strive to improve my qualifications, so I applied without hesitation. I plan to pass on the knowledge and experience gained at INRTU to my students.
During the training, we became a real family with colleagues from Mongolia and Uzbekistan. We are all united by our interest in the Russian language. Thanks to the multinationality of our school, we learn about the traditions and cultural features of other countries.
I visited Irkutsk for the first time and was very impressed by the Siberian hospitality, which is present at the university, on excursions, and trips. Irkutsk residents have a careful attitude to their native land," shared Larisa Orinina.
She also thanks the organizers for the interesting program:
"The Dias Art Gallery and planetarium were especially memorable for me. I am looking forward to the trip to Baikal and the excursion to the House of Crafts and Folklore."
Gulbakhor Abdulkhadova, who teaches Russian in a school in Tashkent, shared her impressions of the summer intensive.
"The INRTU teachers give us valuable knowledge. I am especially pleased with their friendliness. During the trip, I made new friends and got a lot of positive emotions.
Of the entertainment block, I liked the excursion to the Valentin Rasputin Museum the most. Valentin Grigorievich is one of my favorite Russian writers. On the excursion, I learned unique information about his life and work," said Gulbakhor Abdulkhadova.
Gulbakhor Abdulkhadova will pass on her experience in teaching Russian to colleagues at her school:
"I follow the motto: 'Live and learn,' so I will be happy to visit INRTU."
The summer intensive will end on July 25. The participants will receive certificates for completing the professional development courses.
