Russian Language Teachers from Five Countries Improve Their Skills at INRTU
The second session of the free Summer School for Russian language teachers has started at INRTU. Seventeen teachers from Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, China, and Poland will improve their qualifications.
Stepan Bykov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, addressed the participants of the educational project with a welcoming speech.
“Summer schools for Russian language teachers have been held at the Department of Humanities of the Baikal School of BRICS since 2022. The first participants were our colleagues from Mongolia with the support of MonAPRYAL and the personal participation of its Vice-President Sosorbaramyn Erdenemaam. Now we have a truly international group. The first session in 2024 also included guests from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The second session brought together participants from five countries.
Experience has shown that we don't just teach our guests; they share best practices themselves. We hope that you will get the most out of the rich program we have organized,” Stepan Bykov addressed the participants.
Anna Kireenko, Director of the Baikal School of BRICS, Assia Kontrimovich, Director of the Center for International Services, and Alina Kutimskaya, Senior Lecturer, congratulated the participants on the successful opening of the Summer School.
Among the attendees is Daman Sun from the China University of Petroleum (Qingdao). With a degree from Beijing Normal University, she has been teaching Russian as a foreign language for over 30 years. Previously, Daman Sun has attended courses at Russian universities, but this is her first visit to Irkutsk.
“I have done internships at universities in Moscow, Ufa, Belgorod, and St. Petersburg, which train specialists in the oil industry. Recently, I met INRTU's Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Vladimir Vladimirovich Smirnov and the Rector’s Assistant for Chinese Affairs Xia Shuang. They invited me to the Summer School for Russian language teachers. I gladly applied because I need practice with native speakers.
Every year, the China University of Petroleum enrolls a group of 50 people who want to learn Russian. After completing the course, students go to Russia on academic exchange programs. It is important for us to give young people good knowledge so they feel confident away from home. First of all, I would like to learn the experience of Irkutsk colleagues in using IT technologies,” explained Daman Sun.
For four weeks, teachers will attend classes on Russian phonetics, vocabulary, and grammar. The guests will also have excursions around Irkutsk and a trip to Lake Baikal.
