Representatives of 28 Russian universities took part in the session of the Federal Educational and Methodical Association (FEMA) at INRTU
Aleksei Shevchenko, Director of the School of Subsurface Resource Management at IRNITU, moderated the event.
At the opening of the plenary session, Vadim Petrov, Chairman of the FEMA, Vice Rector of National Research Technical University «MISIS», presented a memorable medal «100 years of Russian energy strategy» to Rector of INRTU Mikhail Korniakov, as well as to the leading employees of the School of Subsurface Resource Management.
He especially noted the productive long-term contribution to the activity of the FEMA by Aleksandr Zagibalov, Head of the Department of Mine Surveying and Geodesy and Boris Talgamer, Head of the Department of Mineral Deposits Development.
Vadim Petrov made a report on the development of federal state educational standards (FSES) for higher education within extended set of professions and fields of training 21.00.00. He stressed that any professor or teacher should share approaches in the organization of educational programs. FSES meetings provide such an opportunity.
«The main direction of our activity is the development of federal standards. This is a complex document in terms of content and alignment of the ideology with all members of the academic community. Our universities are different historically. Each of them performs its mission. It is important to find what we have in common in terms of personnel training.
The FEMA meeting is aimed at working out common options so that the educational standard could be a national document», - said Vadim Petrov.
Rector of INRTU Mikhail Korniakov said that there were 18 thousand students and 237 academic programs at INRTU. 4 394 students study at academic programs within extended set of professions and fields of training 21.00.00 «Applied geology, mining, oil and gas engineering and geodesy».
Mikhail Korniakov presented to the participants new approaches in the educational policy of INRTU:
«We train students according to new basic principles, including the formation of research competencies, additional qualification in digital competencies, a system of independent evaluation of the quality of education, the implementation of research and development results in the educational process. In addition, university graduates speak foreign language at the B2 level and have scientific publications», Mikhail Korniakov emphasized.
Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of INRTU Vladimir Smirnov discussed the importance of involving students in research and development activities.
«Immersion in the professional environment by working in research projects will give students new knowledge which will be accounted as a result of an academic program. Mechanisms of crediting of these results in our university are worked out.
At the beginning of INRTU's participation in the federal program «Priority - 2030», we estimated the share of full-time students involved in the research agenda at 10-11%. By 2030 we have an ambitious goal to involve about a third of students in science and work on contractual topics.
Another key element is the need to transfer research and development results to the educational process», Vladimir Smirnov believes.
Alexander Parshin, scientific director of the Siberian School of Geosciences, joined the FEMA session in the format of videoconferencing. He spoke about the peculiarities of the organization of educational activities within implementation of the strategic project «i.GeoDesign» (Program «Priority - 2030»). The team of the Siberian School of Geosciences of INRTU conducts a large number of scientific and industrial expeditions from Karelia and the Kola Peninsula to Kamchatka, and from the Polar region to South-East Asia.
«We not only conduct large-scale scientific research, but also implement original educational programs in order to create the most complete set of new exploration technologies with ultra-low cost and high productivity. This will allow to carry out transition of the university to the position of an active subject of mining and geological industry, organizing its own geological projects on the model of «technological» junior business.
The projects involve INRTU students of various programs and degrees. Every year more than 100 students participate in permanent research or individual geological projects. They not only get an experience, but also can realize a real career in geology through the internship», said Alexander Parshin.
The FEMA program also included excursions at INRTU. The participants got acquainted with the material and technical base of the university. They visited the Mineralogical Museum, educational and training center, research laboratories. The participants also held meetings with employers.
