More than 50 students of INRTU have graduated from the "English for Engineers" program.
The fourth graduation of students who successfully completed the "English for Engineers" - supplementary education program at the School of Linguistics and Intercultural Communication at INRTU took place in June.
Over 50 graduates presented their projects on engineering and business in English and German. Additional 6-8 hours of weekly language training for 2.5 years contributed to reaching high level of foreign language skills, which the students of INRTU demonstrated during their oral presentations at the exam.
According to the graduates, the "English for Engineers" program, due to the active language practice, gave an opportunity to improve not only their language skills, but also to develop professional skills necessary for a successful career in the future.
Andrey Kazarinov, a student of the School of Architecture, Construction and Design, successfully completed the program:
“At every class we learned something new. The classes were full-time, and we did our homework online. We often had meetings in the speaking club, which helped us to improve our language skills. I managed to significantly improve my language skills. I would like to say a special thanks to the tutor Elena Makarova”.
Andrey Kazarinov also added that students studying in the “English for Engineers” are exempt from the final English exam in the 4th year and are assigned a language proficiency level after they successfully pass the exam.
Evgeny Ermolov from the School of Subsurface Resource Management shared his impressions:
"The additional lessons helped me to maintain the level of the foreign language, to strengthen the weak aspects, to expand the vocabulary and to practice speaking on professional topics".
The excellent organization of the program was noted by Roman Mananov, a student of the School of Architecture, Construction and Design:
“The curriculum is quite difficult, that’s why firstly we were taught the basics, and only then on the basis of we were immersed into more specific topics. The number of classes per week is enough for a full-fledged study. Personally, I see the value of this program in being able to work with information from a wide variety of technical areas that I haven't dealt with before”.Most of the students studying German at INRTU are beginners, because they studied English at school. At the exam, the committee noted the good preparation of the beginners for the oral exam, among which future power engineer Anastasia Krysanova was one of the best.
"German began for me with a simple school interest, so without much thinking I chose it for basic study at INRTU, and later began to study it deeper and as a part of the “English for Engineers” program.
In May of this year I took part in conference "Language, science and technology in a dialogue of cultures". In the section "Modern trends in research in the professional and communicative sphere" I took the third place with the report "Prospects for the development of hydrogen as an energy carrier of the future".
At the exam, confirming the passing of the program of German for Engineers, everyone presented the chosen topic, the reports were interesting and well perceived visually and aurally. During quite a small period of time students reached a decent level. I am especially thankful to our teacher Alevtina Plisenko", - says Anastasia.
Students studying foreign language as attendees of additional education programs at the School of Linguistics and Intercultural Communication are not only winners of university, Russian and international competitions, Olympiads and conferences, but also actively participate in foreign educational internships. Future graduate of "English for Engineers" program Daniil Nadybaluk (School of High Technologies) speaks about the importance of such practice for professional career:
"In our future work as biotechnologists we will face international projects and collaboration with foreign colleagues. Knowing English gives us an advantage to communicate and interact effectively with professionals from different countries. Thanks to English for Engineers course, I am learning the skills necessary to successfully communicate in such situations. The English for Engineers course is an integral part of our training in biotechnology. It helps us develop communication skills, understand scientific literature, and prepare for future professional challenges. I appreciate the opportunity to take this course, and I am confident that these skills will be useful in my future career in biotechnology”.
