International Energy Quest at INRTU Attracted 16 Teams from the Angara Region and Mongolia
On November 16, the School of Power Engineering and the Corporate Training and Research Center of EuroSibEnergo-INRTU organized the first international quest “Universe of Power Engineering”. The event was attended by 16 teams fr om the Angara Region and Mongolia. The participants went through 16 locations – they assembled a thermal power station, switched on a generator in the power grid, eliminated accidents, played energy hockey and took a ride on an electric car. The winner of the intellectual tournament was the team from school No. 64 in Irkutsk. The second place was taken by the team that united participants of the En+ educational project “EnergoSchool”. The top three were rounded off by students of the Shelekhovsky Lyceum.
The game was moderated by Daria Shagdyr, a graduate student of INRTU.
Ekaterina Samarkina, Director of the School of Power Engineering, Vladimir Kornev, Director of Corporate Training and Research Centre EuroSibEnergo-INRTU, and Marina Berezina, Head of the “EnergoSchool” project, addressed the quest participants:
“We are happy to welcome schoolchildren and teachers who have found time to take part in the career guidance quest at INRTU. Perhaps, after immersing yourself in the fascinating world of power engineering, you will realize that this is your calling. Many students of the university and employees of energy companies determined their future profession at such events. They remember our first meeting with smiles.
Let today's event be the first step on your way to success. I am sure that we will definitely see some of you among our students, who are ready to contribute to the development of the country's energy sector”
At the interactive platforms children learned about popular engineering professions and educational projects. During the day the participants competed and gained points for each passed station.
The international team “Energy of Fire” was awarded Sberbank prizes for their determination. These were students from the School of Power Engineering, the Baikal School of BRICS and students from Mongolia studying Russian language at INRTU. Valerii Temuujin, a first-year student, shared his impressions.
“I study at INRTU with the support of En+ Group. At the quest, I helped other Mongolian students who still have a poor understanding of Russian. Purev-Ochir Monkhzayaa is particularly interested in the power engineering profession – she came to Irkutsk from a village on the shore of Khubsugul.
We remembered the “Water Slides” station, wh ere we connected pipes, and “Hot Coals” with choosing the right answers,” shared Valerii Temuuzhin.
According to high school student Roman Bannov from the Yelantsy village, children plugging the generator into the power grid while learning the purpose of the sensors. The organizers noted the innovative approach of the participants and awarded them with memorable prizes. In the course of the quest, Roman became convinced that he was interested in the energy profession.
“Our physics teacher is my grandmother Tamara Stepanovna Bannova. She is the one who taught me to love science. In 8-9 grades I successfully performed in the contest of young scientists, received diplomas at the regional Olympiads in mathematics. The power engineering profession is also close to me because my father is a graduate of the INRTU in this field,” Roman Bannov emphasized.
All schoolchildren received merchandise and gifts from Corporate Training and Research Centre and certificates, teachers received letters of gratitude. Children also took part in a win-win lottery from “EnergoSchool”.
