INRTU students Anastasia Pluzhnikova and Olga Kuklina completed an internship at Kangwon National university
Students of School of Architecture, Construction and Design of INRTU completed an internship at Kangwon National University. Anastasia Pluzhnikova and Olga Kuklina went to South Korea to take part in a students exchange program. During the semester, they upgraded their design skills.
Olga and Anastasia are the third- year students of "Design of the architectural environment" in INRTU. In a foreign university, students successfully mastered the disciplines of "media design" and "interior design", as well as Korean language courses.
According to Olga Kuklina, the internship helped to compare the education system in Russian and Korean universities:
“INRTU has developed an intensive and diversified educational program. We work more with "live" materials and practice a lot. Kangwon National University provides comfortable conditions for students, pays special attention to the infrastructure development of the university campus.”
Olga Kuklina got acquainted with the historical sights of the country. She visited Seoul palaces and temples, the Seoul tower, visited Busan city, which is famous for its beaches, hot springs and national parks.
Anastasia Pluzhnikova found out about the academic exchange program through participation in the online summer school of Kangwon National University. She listened to lectures on Korean culture, mastered the basic level of the Korean language.
Anastasia said that during the internship, she was accommodated in an international students dormitory, training was held in Korean. In the beginning students used a translator app, over time they managed to overcome the language barrier.
“The teachers were impressed by our high level of professional training. The basic knowledge gained at INRTU was better than that of our classmates. I liked improving my Korean language skills, which is fundamentally different fr om European ones. During my internship, I was immersed into Korean culture, listened to national music and read dramas. During the trip, I noticed an interesting feature – Korean people came up with their own English language, which differs in intonation and pronunciation. Therefore, when communicating, they can pretend that they do not understand what the interlocutor is talking about, but you quickly get used to it”.
Studying at a Korean university allowed the student to expand her horizons and find new friends:
“Mostly I talked with the guys who also went to South Korea on an exchange program. In our free time, we visited exhibitions and music events, meetings dedicated to anime.”
Anastasia remembered the oceanarium in Seoul's Lotte shopping mall, walks along the shopping streets, observation decks overlooking Seoul and the Han River. The student was greatly impressed by the library in the COEX shopping center, wh ere there are over 50,000 books and magazines.
