INRTU Hosts Educational Lectures with Russian Society "Knowledge"
INRTU has joined the project “Discover Russia with Knowledge” supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Russian Society “Knowledge”.
This summer program introduces international students at Russian universities to the country's advancements in science, culture, history, healthcare, ecology, and other fields. On July 18, the Center for International Services organized the first series of lectures for students of the preparatory department at the Baikal School of BRICS. The guest speaker was Gleb Druzhinin, a lecturer from Russian Society “Knowledge”, Senior Lecturer at Irkutsk State University, and member of the Rosmolodezh Grants expert community.
The first lecture focused on the history of Russian culture, covering the diversity of cultural traditions existing in Russia and national holidays. The topic resonated with the students, as during their time at the university, they had already taken part in many celebrations. The second lecture, “Russia’s Scientific Horizons: Historic Successes and Modern Breakthroughs”, delved into the country’s rich legacy in research. The students learned about outstanding scientists from various fields of science, as well as about the achievements of Russian researchers. The dynamic session blended informative content with interactive elements.
According to Gleb Druzhinin, the foreign students were highly engaged and later participated actively in a short quiz, demonstrating a deep understanding of the material.
Nina Berngard, Head of the INRTU International Office, shared her impression of the lecture series:

“The event was undoubtedly valuable for our international students.
It was great to see their enthusiasm and the seamless teamwork among our staff in organizing such an important initiative. Many students, already familiar with aspects of Russian culture, showed keen interest and answered questions eagerly. This is especially valuable considering that the language barrier still exists for them. Interactive lectures like these should be held more often to enhance learning”.
Stephanie Kirilova, Deputy Director of the Center for International Services, emphasized that “Discover Russia with Knowledge” project aims to strengthen cultural ties and ease students’ integration into Russia’s academic environment:

“These sessions help students gain deeper insight into Russia’s traditions, values, and scientific accomplishments”.
