INRTU Develops Cooperation with Yangzhou Vocational and Technical Institute (China)
INRTU and Yangzhou Vocational and Technical Institute (China) plan to develop cooperation in several areas. During the visit of the Chinese delegation to INRTU, the parties signed a memorandum of cooperation, an academic exchange agreement, and agreed on the joint organization of an educational program in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science.
The Chinese delegation included Rector Chen Hong, Dean of the Faculty of Architectural Engineering Zhang Zun, Dean of the Faculty of Information Engineering Shi Fanfan, and Secretary of the Faculty of Foreign Education Wang Bei.
The Chinese colleagues met with Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Vladimir Smirnov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Stepan Bykov, and Head of the International Affairs Directorate Anna Melenteva.
Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Vladimir Smirnov told the colleagues about INRTU, emphasizing that it is one of the largest universities in Siberia and the Far East. The university has 18,000 students and about 900 teachers (a total of almost 2,500 employees).
"Training is carried out in almost the entire range of engineering fields: mining and geology, energy and construction, chemical technology and mechanical engineering, as well as information technology. In addition, the university has creative areas - design and monumental-decorative art.
In the Irkutsk region, INRTU is the only university participating in the federal project Priority 2030.
Our university actively cooperates with Chinese universities. We are always happy for new partners and new projects. We hope that together we will achieve our goals," shared Vladimir Smirnov.
Vice-Rector for International Affairs Stepan Bykov noted that INRTU has the largest number of Chinese students in the Irkutsk region:
"Around 50 universities in China are our partners. We have joint educational programs and projects with the Harbin Institute of Technology, China University of Petroleum, Beijing Transport University, China University of Geosciences, China University of Mining and Technology, Nanjing University, and other institutions. Very soon, 30 students from Nanjing will come to INRTU for internships.
Undergraduate projects have been launched with Shenyang Chemical Technology University and Shandong Aerospace University. Applications for 3+0 projects have been submitted with Dalian Vocational and Technical Institute. We are certainly interested in expanding the network of partnerships at the 3+0 and 3+2 levels."
As noted by the rector of Yangzhou Vocational and Technical Institute, Chen Hong, INRTU is widely known outside Russia:
"INRTU is included in prestigious world rankings, so we are ready to cooperate in several areas and establish strong connections. Our institute has 40 faculties. Like INRTU, we train petrochemists, builders, architects, and designers. We have much in common.
In recent years, we have actively developed partnerships with foreign universities. Our institute has 6,500 foreign students, mainly from Southeast Asia. We train specialists to work in international companies."
The memorandum of cooperation involves joint research, scientific conferences, exhibitions, academic exchanges, and cooperation to promote the transformation of technologies developed by the universities or their partners, among other things.
Yangzhou Vocational and Technical Institute and INRTU also signed an academic exchange agreement. The universities plan to organize the exchange of students, academic staff, and employees for training, internships, and practice.
In addition, the parties discussed the creation of a joint educational program in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science. According to the Chinese partners, the new program will contribute to the professional and international development of the universities in terms of improving the level of training of talented specialists who are proficient in AI technologies. Moreover, graduates will be fluent in three languages - Chinese, Russian, and English. The cooperation agreement prepared by the Chinese side notes that graduates of the new educational program "will have an international outlook and strong social practice skills, possessing basic applied and theoretical knowledge in AI technologies."
