A Memorandum of cooperation and an Agreement on academic exchange were signed by Rector of INRTU Mikhail Korniakov and Rector of Nanjing University of Science and Technology (China) Fu Mengyin. The documents provide for strengthening friendship between the universities, joint scientific research, exchange of students and teachers, as well as cooperation to promote the transformation of technologies developed by university staff.

Rector Mikhail Korniakov noted that INRTU is included in the list of 29 Russian universities with the status of “National Research University”. These universities create and implement advanced scientific developments in production, and on the basis of this knowledge teach students, producing competitive specialists.

“INRTU is included in the Program “Priority 2030”, which supports the best universities of the country. Last December, the Government approved a list of 38 universities that ensure technological sovereignty of the Russian Federation, and our university is on the list. INRTU is celebrating its 95th anniversary this year. Since its foundation, the university has traditionally made a great contribution to the development of industry in the Irkutsk Region. That is why we have well developed such areas as mechanical engineering, power engineering, construction, oil and gas business, information technologies, etc.,” said Mikhail Korniakov.

Rector Fu Mengyin thanked his colleagues for the warm welcome and said that Nanjing University of Science and Technology was founded in 1953. It has established itself as one of the leading universities in China under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

“We received a lot of support during the Soviet era - it was Russian specialists who were at the origin of the development of our core areas. Nanjing University of Science and Technology pays great attention to mechanical engineering and equipment, chemical engineering and computer science. Joint educational programs have been opened with Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Mendeleev Russian University of Chemical Technology, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and others. I very much hope that our visit will give impetus to the development of new joint educational programs and projects,” Fu Mengyin said.

We are extremely interested in cooperation not only in education, but also in science. First of all, it concerns processing of ash and slag waste. We are ready to send our scientists to Nanjing University of Science and Technology so that in the course of interaction we can submit joint applications for grant competitions”, - said Stepan Bykov.

INRTU pays great attention to the support of Chinese language and culture in Russia. Every year the university organizes the Week of Chinese Culture.
