“Applied Chemistry and Biotechnology” is a structural subdivision of the Department of Chemistry and Food Technology. The work of students is carried out under the guidance of the faculty and engineering staff of the university and outside specialists.

The main activities
- Сreation of functional food products based on vegetable raw materials of the Irkutsk region;
- Research work in the applied chemistry, biotechnology and environmental problems of industrial production;
- Scientific basis and creation of effective wastewater technologies from heavy-metal ions, based on the stimulation of physico-chemical processes;
- Research on assessing the level of heavy metals in welding aerosols;
- Research on post-treatment of wastewater from oil products till discharge rates into fishery waters;
- Monitoring of the oil content products in the snow cover of Irkutsk and Irkutsk region;
- Research of membrane materials for solid polymer fuel cells.
