An amazing trip to see the movie “Cheburashka”
I want to introduce myself. My name is Tiamiyu Ibrahim. I'm from Nigeria. I am currently studying the Russian Language at the Baikal School of BRICS. In this article, I will talk about my experience on a trip to the cinema theater to see the movie ‘Cheburashka!’
On 20th January the teachers Nataliia Petrova and Larisa Proskurnina informed us we’d go to the cinema to see ‘Cheburashka.’ We were to meet at the Lermontov shopping center. I had been anticipating this day a lot! A friend had told me how enjoyable the movie was. Cheburashka is a fabulous Russian character with big eyes and ears, and he loves oranges.
We were already at Lermontov, and under the teacher’s guidance, we drove to Silver Mall by bus; I could feel the excitement on my colleague’s faces. We were all so anxious and excited about this experience. The bus drove for about 25min. Finally, we got to our stop and walked for about 2 miles to the mall. I had been thinking about why the mall is called a Silver Mall. I finally cleared my thoughts as soon as I saw the mall. It was silver plated on the outside and all shiny and spacious inside.
So, we arrived at the cinema. It was my first time going to a cinema in Russia. It was staggering and impressive. The settings are unique compared to the cinemas I have been to. Unfortunately, we could not explore this beautiful place as we wanted to, because we needed to arrive early. We had only 5min to get tickets and snacks.
Finally, we arrived at the silver screen. I was flabbergasted at first, because only a few people were in the hall, most of the seats were scanty, and I already had doubts about this movie. However, after 10 minutes into the movie, I had already cleared all my misconceptions. It was a fascinating and amusing movie.
It was a gratifying experience, and I loved every bit of it. It took me a while to notice that the whole point of the trip was still about practicing Russian listening skills. It's fascinating how we still learn Russian, even outside the classroom.
