Round University Ranking: INRTU Among the World's Best Universities

Irkutsk National Research Technical University (INRTU) has placed 745th in the global Round University Ranking (RUR) and 50th among Russian universities.

The Round University Ranking, which has been published since 2010, evaluates over a thousand of the world's leading universities. The ranking is based on data fr om the Thomson Reuters InCites system and utilizes 20 performance indicators grouped into four areas: teaching, research, international diversity, and financial sustainability. The ranking framework includes an overall world university ranking as well as a series of subject-specific rankings.

It should be noted that the 2025 RUR Subject Rankings cover 37 subjects across natural sciences, life sciences, technical sciences/engineering, social sciences, and humanities, as well as a number of specialized fields. This edition provides a detailed picture of wh ere the world's leading universities excel and how their representation is distributed across countries and macro-regions.

Among Russian universities in the 2025 RUR Subject Rankings, INRTU demonstrated the following results: Energy – 22nd place, Technical Sciences – 37th place, Chemistry – 39th place, Engineering – 40th place, Materials Science – 41st place, and Computer Science – 43rd place. In the field of Humanities, INRTU holds the 50th position.

Another Irkutsk university was also included in the 2025 global ranking – Irkutsk State University (ISU) is placed 711th in the RUR. Among Russian universities, Irkutsk State University ranks 45th.
