The INRTU-launched StreetFest 3.0 Festival of Street Sports Attracted More Than 150 Students From the Irkutsk Region and Buryatia
The StreetFest 3.0 festival of street sports took place at INRTU sports grounds on November 18-19. The event attracted over 150 students from 16 universities and colleges of the Irkutsk Region and the Republic of Buryatia.
For the first time the StreetFest was organized by INRTU SportCom Sports Club in 2021. Ilya Bizimov, an activist of the sports commission and future geodesist, won the Rosmolodezh-awarded grant to organize this year's festival. The event aims to popularize student mass sport involving the youth.
As Ilya Bizimov notes, the grant gave a good rise to the project broadening its geography considerably. The Festival brought together representatives of INRTU, Baikal State University, Irkutsk State University, East Siberia State University of Technology and Management, and others.
"The festival was truly eventful and engaging. The participants-given feedback was fairly positive. Every year we do our best to add new sports to the project, various activities, and also to involve INRTU sports grounds alongside the city ones," said Ilya.
The student added that it took a large team to give the project a go. It was superwised by Alexey Kuklin, an INRTU alumnus. Artyom Kuzmin, head of the regional branch of Russia's Student Sports Clubs Association, became the manager for organizing sports events. Snezhana Tutanova was in charge of the PR-campaign. The volunteer corps work was supervised by Nikita Kuklin, and Dmitry Prokhorov undertook technical issues.
The INRTU sports hall-held Festival opened with street-ball and panna-football competitions. Cross-fit training conducted in INRTU Physical Education and Wellness Center proved really challenging. The athletes had to perform classical exercises with kettlebells and dumbbells, pull up on the crossbar, etc. The Tsarsky trampoline park became the venue for the Street Workout tournament.
The sports project proceeded to November 19 for arm wrestling competitions, as well as a sports game altimat frisbee with a flying disk.
According to the results of the festival, the winners were awarded commemorative cups and medals, certificates to the Tsarsky trampoline center, and pizza.
The panna-football contest's prizewinner became Matvey Kupert, a first-year student of INRTU School of Economics, Management and Law. Unlike classic soccer, this sport involves two players aiming to score as many goals as possible in the opponent's low-lying gates.
"As a member of the INRTU SportCom team, I took the third place in the exciting game of frisbee altimat. Thanks to the StreetFest 3.0 project, I proved to be physically fit and also improved my organizational skills," highlighted the first-year student.
Overall, Matvey is actively involved in INRTU-launched sports events. For example, this autumn together with his School's team the student won silver in mini-football Freshman Cup.
