The Career Marathon Poster Session at INRTU Brought Together Over 40 Companies

The Career Marathon was launched at INRTU. The stand session provided employment and internship offers for students by more than 40 companies. The event is traditionally hosted by the Career Center headed by Diana Kopaigorodskaya.

The session was opened by the Ethnobit ethnic percussion studio supervised by Natalia Vlasevskaya.

INRTU Rector Mikhail Kornyakov addressed the participants of the event:

"Today the University welcomes our strategic partners with whom we successfully implement corporate programs. Today the Career Marathon became first-time venue for 15 companies. I am sure that all of them are looking forward to meeting with the students - eager, goal-oriented young people interested in early career development".

Khabarovsk Geological Exploration Enterprise (KGEE) has invited geodesists, drill rig operators (core drilling) and geophysicists to join its team. The Far East company offers trainees to conclude a fixed-term labor contract with payment, it also ensures that the students are provided with full welfare and professional assistance at the sites.

According to Irina Tikhaya, Head of the HR Department, INRTU students are utterly enthusiastic about the KGEE projects:

"In November we expect 10 trainee drillers fr om INRTU. For the students it’s a good opportunity to start their career in a reliable exploration company. We offer our employees a stable salary with bonuses due to the Far North labor conditions, compensation of transportation costs, and participation in development projects".

The Career Marathon was supported by Amurugol JSC, one of the oldest and largest mining companies in the Far East. As part of the spring Career Day, the university management and the company held a meeting to expand cooperation in personnel training. And already at the autumn poster session, Amurugol representatives are here to share their impressions of the Irkutsk trainees.

Evgeny Nikolaev, Deputy General Director for HR and Social Issues, noted that in summer of 2023, future surveyors, open-pit mining specialists, electromechanics, and machine operators underwent internship at the open-pit mines.

"We hosted a large group of INRTU students. According to our production workmates' most positive feedback, the trainees are efficiently trained and industrious. Some students, in their turn, expressed their desire to further join the company as part of the professional team", - said Evgeny Nikolaev.

Future power engineers got interested in a virtual tour of Gusinoozyorskaya State District Power Plant (SDPP) - part of JSC Inter RAO - Electric Power Plants. The enterprise was opened in the Buryat Republic in 1976; the main fuel is coal from the Okino-Klyuchevsky open-pit mine and the Gusinoozyorsky deposit. Anastasia Krasinskaya answered the students' questions.

"In 2019, I graduated from School of Power Engineering, and together with my friends I went to SDPP, wh ere I worked my way up from electric fitter to repair engineer. I like the fact that the company takes care of its employees, for example, it pays for vacations in the south of Russia, holds sports contests. We invite power engineers, IT specialists, as well as labor safety engineers and economists to join our friendly, close-knit team," said Anastasia Krasinskaya.

Roman Gorbunov, a sophomore metallurgist and activist of Student Scientific Society "Carbon", was particularly interested in getting acquainted with the companies. He filled out questionnaires offered by Rosatom State Corporation and Sayanskkhimplast JSC:

"I have always wanted to try my hand at nuclear physics, and the metallurgical profession exactly makes it possible. At university, we study how metal is smelted, including the leaching of uranium and other heavy metals using the underground method. My knowledge is sure to contribute to my internship at Rosatom State Corporation. Alternatively, I am considering working in laboratories at JSC Sayanskkhimplast, PJSC Gazprom or Transneft.

The poster session was also accompanied by a live broadcast "With the Important about Important". Employees of the companies, including INRTU graduates, shared their job stories and career development options. The recording of the broadcast is available here.
