Russian-speaking Students From Mongolia Have Come to Study at INRTU

INRTU has started running classes for Russian-speaking students from the Mongolian State University of Education (MSUE). The first group of 17 students will spend six months learning the teaching methods of foreign languages and cultures.

According to Stepan Bykov, INRTU Vice-Rector for International Affairs, the courses were organized with the assistance of Professor Sosorbaramyn Erdenemaam, Vice President of the Mongolian Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (MonATRLL). The goal of the inclusive training is to improve the communication skills of Mongolian students of Pedagogics, Russian and English.

"For immersion in a multicultural environment, the university organizes classes in mixed groups. You will have the opportunity to communicate with Russian students and those who have come to us from other countries. Today the university has students from 53 countries, including about 50 of your compatriots. Comprehensive adaptation and a wide range of acquaintances will help you succeed in linguistics and pedagogics," Stepan Bykov addressed the students.

The guests from MSUE were also welcomed by Anna Melenteva, Head of the International Affairs Department, and Nina Berngard, Head of the International Office.

Classes for the Mongolian students are held in the BRICS Department of Humanities, headed by Svetlana Latysheva. The program includes lectures and seminars on country studies, literature, written and oral communication, and Russian and English language teaching methods.

Among the students is third-year student Muldir Huangkhan. She entered the Mongolian State University of Education after her parents - teachers of physical education and English. She came to Irkutsk to improve her speaking skills and knowledge of Russian grammar.

"In my aimag Bayan-Ulgii and Ulaanbaatar, there are few native Russian speakers to communicate with. In six months of living in Russia, I will be able to speak fluently and write correctly. These skills will help me to work with schoolchildren, to get acquainted with the works of the classics - Alexander Pushkin and Mikhail Lermontov. Now I read only my teachers' books.

INRTU welcomed us warmly and provided us with a room in a comfortable dormitory. The teachers are friendly, answer all our questions and give us interesting homework. My dream is to visit Lake Baikal and Moscow," - said Muldir Huangkhan.

INRTU has been successfully conducting advanced training courses for current Russian teachers since 2022.
