Russian Language Teachers from China, Mongolia, Thailand and Uzbekistan Improve Their Skills at INRTU
INRTU is hosting the first session of the free Summer School for Russian language teachers. 13 teachers from China, Mongolia, Thailand and Uzbekistan are interested in the educational intensive.
Stepan Bykov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of INRTU, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony. He said that the first school was held in 2022 with the support of the Mongolian Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature. The participants were teachers from Mongolia.

"Today, representatives of different cultures, who are united by their love for the Russian language, joined the Summer School. Our region is rich in natural attractions, located near the pearl of Siberia - Lake Baikal. I am sure that you will not only get new knowledge, but also have a good rest. Traditionally, the result of the educational intensives is the defense of projects, wh ere participants talk about the cultural peculiarities of their countries, methods of teaching Russian language. I look forward to this event every time," Stepan Bykov addressed the participants.
The participants were welcomed by Anna Melentieva, Head of the International Affairs Department:

"Since 2022, 86 participants from Mongolia, China, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Poland, Indonesia and Nigeria have attended our summer school. It is very valuable for us to receive foreign educators, to pass on important knowledge and familiarize them with the region. I wish everyone fruitful work, new ideas and acquaintances, as well as inspiration".
As part of the opening ceremony, the participants were introduced to the program of the summer school and meet the teachers of the Department of Russian Language Linguo-Didactics. The Summer School classes are held in the morning four times a week. In the afternoon the participants visit Irkutsk museums and familiarize themselves with the city architecture. There are also trips to the Architectural-ethnographic Museum "Taltsy" and to Lake Baikal. The teachers are accompanied on the excursions by the staff of the Center for International Services.
The participant of the Summer School was Angsana Rueangdam, who teaches Russian to students of Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok (Thailand).

"As a child, I loved watching Russian ballet in recordings and dreamed of seeing a production in a theater. It was then that my interest in the Russian language emerged. This inspired me to enroll in the Faculty of Philology at Lomonosov Moscow State University. I learned about the Summer School from my friend from Vietnam and decided to apply. In Irkutsk I want to improve my qualification, learn new teaching methods, and get acquainted with colleagues from other countries. It is very important that the school includes not only classes, but also a rich cultural program," said Angsana Rueangdam.
The project defense and closing ceremony of the Summer School will be held at the Baikal School of on July 24.
